I would guess this is one of the various projects he hinted at a little while back in his not a blog. He wrote about the variety of projects in different stages of development and possibility not too long ago. I forget even why, I'm sure someone else may remember more details, or could check the NotABlog for GRRM discussing a variety of projects. Also, that linked article links to another article that is not necessarily accurate. It's saying that TWOW will not be out this year, and that is not a given....GRRM teased us with that idea when he mentioned cancellations of various events, unless of course, he delivered KING KONG, then.....plans might change.

Well, I'd have loved to see "Tuff Voyaging" on TV screen.

From what I remember this has been on the 'streets' only within the last few months, maybe a few more months than that. (It's been known that HBO signed GRRM to development of something or somethings more than a year ago.) Something about a science fiction writer in 1949! Witting stories? George is an old time tru blu prose science fiction fan , notice I said prose! Most people these days, I think, associate science fiction with movies and television or comics , and have no idea the genre originated in prose. This sounds as if it might be an anthology , maybe of classic science fiction prose short stories translated into TV* , but 'anthology' is the kiss of death in the visual media. I love it and don't know why it disappeared , they tried to bring back Twilight Zone and was a bust. Sigh. *Note: most really great science fiction prose has never served as source material for TV or film.

Captain Cosmos does sound very interesting. I know he signed a development deal with HBO a year or two ago.

I think it's been longer than that but the asshats wonderful petty pepole at Westeros wouldn't let you talk about until the Gurm made it official.

If Conleth Hill is the one he wants for the part, I'd be sure to watch.

I have found out that George has bought options on a number of short stories for a 'development' (I know the writer) but am told these may or may not be for the HBO deal.
