I have been looking forward to this one as it's been on my bucket list to really catch up on all of the older history of Westeros. It's released today! www.amazon.com/Knight-Seven-Kingdoms-Song-Fire/dp/0345533488Anyone going to pick this up and read it? I'm considering getting the Audible edition in addition to the actual book because I just saw someone posted on Reddit that it's narrated by Harry Lloyd which I think is really kinda cool. I would like to listen to him tell the stories of Dunk and Egg! Maybe we can start a discussion thread for this later once more people have had a chance to read it. It will give us something else to talk about over the looooong winter!

Preordered mine and it came on Monday but I'm still finishing Wolf Hall so I can't start yet. Kinda ridiculous I still haven't read these.

Already read them. But I look forward to seeing what people think about them. When George gets around to releasing She-Wolves of Winterfell, I will be happy...

Fools.
Dunk and Egg collections have been available for YEARS in other languages. Martin says he held back from releasing an English version because they wanted to include art. Which is weird. They could have done a text version like everywhere else in the world and then reaped again a few years later with a special edition. I think the English publishers just dropped the ball or GURM fucked up somehow.

Think carefully before you respond.

Yes. Fools one and all. I can tell collectors when I see them. Assuming Martin writes more D&E (I know, it's a stretch, just suspend your disbelief for a moment) another collection will be released. He said so himself. Collections of three. It's a lead-pipe lock that the new collection will have a different cover and they will release the first compendium with a new cover so collectors can have a matching set.
As the changing of seasons, so is GURM's marketing team.

Whatever. You're certainly entitled to your opinion but no need to be insulting about it.

I don't follow the NAB threads and whatnot that much so I don't understand why you despise it so much? Do you hate the show too? I don't really get it. There's a lot to love even with some crappy bits. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Tbh I just want to finally be able to read them in my fucking language without buying a load of seperate anthologies or downloading some pdf on a blaring screen. It's convenience over economics.

There's a lot to love even with some crappy bits. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I don't watch the show. :Snoopydance: I began reading ASOIAF in 1998. I didn't get roped into the internet stuff until about four years ago when Linda Antonnsen was shitting herself all over the Amazon. I didn't mind that AFFC was a bad book (imo), but I didn't feel offended until ADWD came out. I am now mostly in it for the lulz, although I sometimes to get angry and exasperated by how much people still think Martin's farts smell like ambrosia. I completely understand that people want the D&E in one book. I have the Legends anthology (autographed), and thought the first D&E was very good. I have not read any others because I'll be damned if I am going to give Martin another dollar. I'll be buying and reading TWOW the day it comes out, but only because I feel obligated. I got ADWD free when it was released, but I don't expect to luck out like that again. I didn't steal it, btw. Nice things happen to nice people, and I am a nice person. It's kind of like voting in the US. If everyone in the US voted, nothing much would change. If no one voted, big changes. Martin needs a wake up call. Well, needed one. Too late now. I am with the dance band on the Titanic, singing Dear My God to Thee. The iceberg's off the starboard bow, won't you dance with me?

I've never read these. Didn't feel like buying them separately in different books. Might have to pick this up.
