I came here just to admit that I've never played the Dragon Age games. I need to do that ASAP. can you just leave please thanks I came here just to admit that I've never played the Dragon Age games. I need to do that ASAP. Let's hear what Septa Unella has to say about this: shamenun.com/Seriously though, you should totally play them. They all have great stories and characters, and the writing in all three games is amazing. Admittedly the first game, Origins, hasn't aged very well and it is kinda underwhelming from a gameplay perspective, but the story totally makes up for it. If you have the hardware, you should play Origins on PC, because it is virtually unplayable on consoles, due to bad controls and an atrocious framerate. Dragon Age is also a very gay-friendly franchise. In all three games, you have the option to romance certain gay members of your party. I freaking love Dorian in Inquisition ... Yeah, that is actually the main reason I haven't played Origins yet. I'm more of a console gamer and I prefer JRPGs. But I thought I should start looking at WRPGs as well. People keep telling me how great they are. I read a lot about various games and saw some videos, but they never appealed to me. I'm willing to give them a try now, through.

I love that it has a medieval fantasy setting, but the world is not horrifically patriarchal or cripplingly misogynistic.

I honestly can't wait until I'm back home for the summer next week, I'm going to leave my PC in to get it fixed.. No idea what's wrong with it - when I play intensive games, the CPU usage goes really high (80-90%+) and then about 10 minutes into playing the PC shuts itself off.. I don't want to fuck with it so I'm going to leave it in. I wasn't really bothered by it previously as it was exam season (and maybe was a blessing in disguise) but now it's summer time and all I want to do is game.

Guys, I'm playing Dragon Age II and I always die when the ogre attacks me for the second time.
Haven't made progress in the game for weeks.

Admittedly, Dragon Age Origins is not a very appealing game at first glance. As I said, it has aged rather badly, especially graphics- and gameplay-wise. But the story still holds up. It's also very woman-friendly too! I love that it has a medieval fantasy setting, but the world is not horrifically patriarchal or cripplingly misogynistic. Yes, indeed. That's also something I love about Dragon Age. The writers have made the truly brilliant decision to have a female Jesus-like figure in Andraste. Cassandra (Allegra Portia Calogera Filomena Pentaghast), Leliana and Morrigan are probably my favourite characters, they're all badass and so well written. And I love Dragon Age lore so much. The Old Gods of the Tevinter Imperium, the Fade, the Mages, the Maker and his Black City, the Blight and Darkspawn and Arch demons. I find all this stuff incredibly fascinating ... And let's not forget about the Elven pantheon with all its deities, Mythal and Fen'Harel in particular. I'm almost as nerdy and passionate when it comes to Dragon Age, as I am about A Song of Ice and Fire ...

The Dragon Age lore is amazing. The whole mythos surrounding the Fade and the Golden City (and how it is always there whenever you're in the fade, but impossible to get to) is really fucking cool. The ending of DAI definitely got my nerd boner ready for the next game, or at least willing to throw my money at BioWare if it is resolved via DLC.

The solution to your problem is to exit the game and destroy the disk. I love the Dragon Age series, but DAII is awfulllllllllll! The only true sequel IMO is DAI

I played Dragon Age Origins for 83 minutes and then stopped Yeah, never liked Dragon Age either. The only RPG I've really enjoyed were Fable 2 and Fire Emblem Awakening. Everything else is way too time consuming and kind of tedious most of the time.

Yeah I'd say Skyrim is more an action adventure sprinkled with lite RPG mechanics. Bethesda have certainly been neutering their games over the years.

Got my graphics card replaced today, up from a GTX 770 to a 970.. Old one died on me, so glad to be able to play games again.. Only problem is there is no full-sized HDMI slot in the card, only a micro-HDMI, so I have to wait until Monday/Tuesday until Amazon delivers one.

Some people might tell you that you should skip DA2 and yeah, it is definitely the weakest game of the three - but its story is pretty essential for understanding what's going on in Inquisition, even more so than Origins, I'd say.

Basil is unfortunately right, the story in DA2 is more critical than that of Origins in understanding wtf is going on in DAI. But I would still skip it. Story videos on YouTube exist for a reason!

I honestly didn't find DA2 to be all that bad. The core gameplay (the battle system in particular) was better than that of Origins (imho). Granted, the story was really meh for the most part, but some of the characters were kinda fun. And since my male Hawke romanced Anders, it actually made for a pretty sweet and tragic love story. The only thing that I truly hated about DA2 were the dungeons. I mean, they used only a handful of templates for the hundreds of them within the game, and clearing the exact same dungeon from enemies over and over again gets really old, very fast.

By the way, it really kinda sucks that a male Trevelyan is not allowed to romance Cullen in Inquisition. As much as I love Dorian, Cullen is hotter. And he's such a dork, too, but still adorable. "Did you just ... grab my bottom?" - Hush! Just look pretty, Cullen. And also this:
