I've been threatening you with this for a week now, so here it is. The Nintendo thread. I love Nintendo, but this is not an appreciation thread, discussions and criticism are welcome. But let's start positively, what are your favourite Nintendo consoles and games? I honstely can say that I love every console (yes, even the Wii U ) But my favourite one is probably the SNES. That thing had so many fantastic and perfect games from all genres. It's incredible. My favourite game, however, will have to be Mario 64. I will never forget the first time I played it. It was heavenly. Everything about that game delights me: the atmosphere, the level design, the controls, the details, the secrets... Star Fox is another favourite of mine and I can't wait for Star Fox: Zero to be released. By the way, one series that should receive more attention, IMO, is the Mario & Luigi series for the GBA/DS/3DS. If you don't know it: these games are basically Mario RPGs and they're really fun to play and have hilarious and absurd stories.

I used to be a big Nintendo fanboy. Even waited in line overnight for a Wii because I wanted Twilight Princess so much. They have fallen big time to me since then and where it used to be a Nintendo console would be my main one, I see them as just secondary/complementary hardware now. I also think they've dropped the ball big time with the Zelda franchise.

Well, thanks for completely ignoring what I wrote in my first post. But whatever. Yeah I do think that the Wii U is more of a secondary hardware, unless you love Jump'n'Runs and only that, then the Wii U is the perfect console for you. The Wii, however, while having the weakest hardware (in comparison to PS3 and 360), had a high variety of different games to choose from and was as good a console as any, IMO. But all in all, Nintendo remain the true innovators in this industry. They are never afraid of trying new things and I respect the hell out of that. When it comes to the handheld market, Nintendo is still in a leading position by a mile. The DS and 3DS have fantastic games. Concerning Zelda: I completely disagree. One mediocre game (Skyward Sword) doesn't ruin a whole franchise. There are plenty of good Zelda games on the DS and 3DS for example and both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are very good games (Wind Waker being almost perfect even).

I haven't played Skyward Sword. Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time though and A Link to the Past is a close second. Majoras's Mask and Wind Waker are great too.

I would love to, but unfortunately I have nothing to contribute to this thread, except maybe my undying love for the Pokémon franchise. I've also played quite a lot of Mario Party back in the day - and that game single handedly ruined some of my most treasured friendships.

I have a Game Boy Color and I love it. It works perfectly, the only problem is that I only have two games and I don't like one of them, so all I can play is mario bros.
I used to play Pokemon, I had the Blue edition.

Red Edition all the way. This is off-topic, but seeing that Civil War picture kind of reminded me of @daveyjoe. He's our Captain America... I'm sorry, I meant Captain Murica.

What's funny is that I've never even seen the Captain America movies, I always found the character to be a bit boring. Batman is the only comic book character I get hype about.

I love the Mario & Luigi games sooo much. I played the first one on GBA back then and fell in love. The RPG gameplay is seriously addictive and the games all have hilariously funny storylines. I laughed out loud many, many times and I usually never do that when playing a game. You should check it out. The sequels are amazing, too, especially Bowser's Inside Story for the DS.

I'd love to be able to discuss Nintendo games with you, but I simply can't, because I've never played them.

You should give them a chance. A lot of their games are considered to be absolute masterpieces. I actually think you are more of a gamer than I am, so yeah, you should absolutely play these games. A lot of Nintendo's back catalogue is available on the DS/3DS. You owe it to yourself!
