I admit, I shamelessly stole the idea for this thread from westeros.org, but whatever. Sue me! Okay, basically this is a place to post any random opinion, thought, idea or theory you have about the series or the characters, even (or especially) if it is controversial and generally not shared by the vast majority of the readers/viewers. You don't need to defend your opinion or provide any evidence or quotes from the books or show to back it up. This is no place for discussions, only for stating random thoughts.

Okay, here are some of my controversial opinions:
I love Renly, he is by far my favourite Baratheon, and I was devastated when he was killed. I'd say personally, Renly's death has affected me more than even Ned Stark's.
You probably know this one about me already, but Catelyn is the best character in this series for me. Of course there are other characters that I love, but not a single one of them comes even remotely close to the amount of ridiculously unconditional love I have for Catelyn.
House Tully is underappreciated and deserves more love.
Lady Stoneheart was a stroke of genius.
I don't give a damn about House Targaryen and their history, Dany is the only Targaryen that I like.
I honestly think Tyrion is a bit overrated. I personally don't quite get the appeal of his character, especially in the books.

I still don't understand the level of adoration Stannis receives. I was indifferent towards him before I started discussing the books/show online, but it's grown into an active dislike of the character. I know there's a lot of big Stannis fans on this board (including Sati), so please don't kill me.

I mean, I've never actively disliked Stannis or anything, but I don't find him particularly likeable. True, he has some badass moments and Dillane's performance on the show has been consistently brilliant, but as a character, Stannis is not particularly interesting to me, I actually find both Melisandre and Davos far more interesting than Stannis. That said, I still think the way D&D wrapped up his entire storyline within two episodes was rather underwhelming.

I think post-Storm-of-Swords Arya is really boring Bran's story got boring for me since Clash of Kings I think Tyrion is overrated. Show-wise, I don't really like Sansa ( ), Arya, Brienne, Bran, some parts of Dany, and last but by no means least, OLLY. (Not exactly controversial but I've hated him since the moment he showed up, rather than just when he killed Jon. Just look at his stupid face I know he just saw his parents die and this guy is telling him he'll eat them, but he's not sad, he's just pulling a stupid face EDIT: Also, I don't understand all the love for Olenna in either book or show. Seriously, what's the appeal?[/spoiler]

I believe that Tyrion will be a Dragon rider much to the dismay of many people it seems.

Sometimes I worry about the way the show treats Dany and Tyrion having an effect on how I view them when I read. I always hated how they had Tyrion handle Shae and Tywin's affair with the fear it would make one of the fan favorites "look bad."

I like Roose more than anyone (except Stannis).
I dislike show Cat and love the book version.
I only like show Sansa because of Sophie.
I had sex dreams about threesome with Mel, Sansa and NK. Weird?
Tyrion is overrated a bit.
I liked Jaime even before he lost his hand.
I think you can't say Others are bad, because they are above human comprehension.
There is no honour in honour.
Jaime is better man than the other KG.
Olly is shit.
Brienne is dumb.
Tywin isn't a hypocrite.
Roose had every right to betray Robb.
Robb was a dumbass because he didn't listen Roose during Season 2.
I don't think there is any unnecessary nudity.
Ironborn are cool.
I loved travelogue chapters in AFfC and ADwD.
ADwD is my favourite book.
Theon hate (for betraying Robb) is stupid IMO.
I don't think Roose sitting on the IT is far-fetched.
Roose will flay Ramsay.
Bolt-On is true.
Khal Ned is shit.
I don't care about the Starks other than Ned.
Coldhands was epic.
Bowen Marsh did the right thing.
Davos will survive.
Ice dragons are real.
Arya is a sociopath.

It's like when a sports team has the most annoying fans (I'm looking at you Philadelphia & Oakland), it's naturally going to give you a negative outlook on the team itself. Is it fair? Perhaps not, but it's inevitable. Glad you like the new avi btw. *Obviously there's exceptions, some Stannis fans are perfectly nice people.

For example I know that Stannis is bit of a dick and harsh etc, but I still like him. Then there are those who say he isn't and defend him even if they're wrong.

I can't really think of one that's too out there really. Even if I said "I don't give a shit who lives and dies so long as the story stays good", which is true, I'm sure plenty of people would agree with me. Or if I admitted that I'm very attracted to bookCersei and book-and-showMel precisely because of how batshit they are. I'm sure that'd be an acceptable sentiment on many corners of the internet too. And voicing one's like of the Boltons is hardly controversial anymore. There's a whole subreddit for ffs.
Maybe that I think Dany and Stannis are very similar characters who I like just about equally but who's cults of personality within the fandom piss me off to no end? That's not too novel an idea, come to think of it. Or that I prefer ep. 510 to ep. 508? Or that I like s5 better than s1? Yeah, that one probably counts.
How about this...I'll probably never read ADOS because I imagine by the time it comes out I'll have moved on from GrrM's world and the fandom and will be happy enough with the show's ending? Is that controversial? Even still. Probably not.

Least favourite and most hated are different, right? Because I hate Ramsay but he's still in my favourites.

Jon Snow is my least favourite character. There. I said it! I just think he's such a dull character. The most exciting thing about him was Ygritte and that was 95% because of her, and she had to go and die in ASOS. Controversial opinion #2: I never really liked Stannis and I have approx. 0 fucks to give about what happened to him at the end of season 5.

I could see why you might feel Jon's arc is somewhat dull from AGOT-ASOS. I enjoyed that stuff, but I get it. I think it's hard for me to put Jon and dull in the same sentence after Season 5 or ADWD.

Reading that Dormer crap from her interview I'm starting to think the quality of season 5 scripts actually damaged cast' brains. I'm just shocked at the level of stupid.
