Man i'm getting bored with this season. This is just beyond a joke now....7 episodes on a war that started in episode 1 and STILL hasn't been resolved. How much longer are they going to drag it out? I'm only watching this for an endless supply of Sweaty!Rick They'll never run out of Sweaty!Rick. How come he sweats buckets and no one else does? The acting on this show can be so good (Josh Mc Dermott in the last episode, the last scene between Michonne and Daryl) but the writing so inane? Why the fart would Rick even trust Jadis & the trash people? By the way, how did jadis forget proper English so fast? Why is Negan using restraint to find out who the mole is? Jeez, he killed the Sanctuary's own doctor for LESS. You'd think he'd take a bat to Eugene and Dwight and be done with it. Is the show trying to tell me that Father Gabe purposely got caught to get Doc Carson back? How did he get so sick? Why are they re-treading Morgan's old plot with Jesus? Lol i hate the trash people, i hoped that Rick would attack and get rid of them as well. I think their loss of English is more a 'choice' just like the King chose to talk like a medieval knight. I agree that the acting can be good, the moments i enjoy are between our main and long serving characters - i enjoyed the recent rift between Rick and Daryl. I have no clue how the Priest got sick, there was no hint of this before the fighting. I'm guessing its an infection and they don't have the antibiotic for it. I can't stand Eugene, what an absolute traitor and coward. I actually like Dwight and think the actor is pretty good. Jesus is annoying me, mostly because i agreed with Tara that they should not have taken prisoners. Not all of them are bad but i still think keeping dangerous people in your own compound poses a significant risk.

@igrewupinkl, good point about the Trash people talking that way by choice just like how Ezekiel chose to speak the way he does.
Yeah, I think Father Gabe might die from something mundane (something people on this show don't do often and considering how the world is, shouldn't more people be dying of things like appendicitis?) Austin Amelio who plays Dwight is very good. There was a time where I wished Dwight dead and now I don't want Dwight to die.
Tara was absolutely right about the prisoners. The show has NO IDEA what to do with Jesus. For a character that had such a good (and fun) introduction, they sure have wasted him since.

Watched the mid-season finale. God that was awful. Rick has an opportunity to bash Negan's head in with Lucille and hits him in the stomach with the wrong end of the bat. WHAT THE HELL RICK? Bye, Bye Carl. The Spoilers were right

What did day dreamer think? i imagine she is stunned Well I read spoilers so I wasn't stunned at his death as I knew it was coming. What stuns me is Gimple's reasoning for it and it not being Chandler's decision to leave. His THR interview spoke volumes and I hate Gimplr more than I thought was possible.

Gimple is an arrogant idiot. Did you see the comments Chandler's father had on facebook before he deleted them? Basically said, Chandler bought a home in Georgia, was told by Gimple that they foresaw 3 seasons of story for Carl and then dropped the new 2 weeks before Chandler's 18th birthday. Fans are pissed. Even my friends who were ride or die with the Walking Dead are like, fuck you Gimple.

kingeomer, yes I did. I'm glad there's screen shots of it. His mom even came in an instagram comment and reiterated that it wasn't Chandler's decision to leave. All of this to keep Negan around. Gimple is a moron.

Why would they drop a main character for a villian that is not going to last long? They have honestly lost touch with what fans want.
Feel sorry for Chandler now...To be honest its probably good for his career to get off this show.

I have to agree though, I think it will be better for his career to get off the show. He will have the time and availability to go for a wide variety of parts. There is already pics of him on the net cutting off the Carl hair and he looks completely different.

Interesting. I was fully expecting the Carl thing to be another Glenn dumpster situation. Carl has never been one of my favourite characters on this show, plus I don't think Chandler Riggs is that good of an actor, but still, the fact that this death didn't destroy me emotionally just goes to show how little I care at this point. I mean, I'm the guy who cried for like a week when freaking Beth died. I'm trying to think if this was the right move for the show. As much as I personally dislike Carl, his character had some major thematic significance. He represented hope for the future of humanity. Taking that away by killing him off could have been powerful (albeit extremely bleak) storytelling, but in Walking Dead, once again, it just feels kind of arbitrary and pointless. It just happened because killing off characters is the only way the writers of this show know how to create drama, and also to get people on social media talking. What he said to Rick before he died was a nice sentiment and all, but we all know it won't stick for more than a few episodes. Oh well. "You're gonna be fine. You are gonna beat this world. I know you will. You are smart, and you are strong, and you are so brave, and I love you. Good night, love."

Basil, I think you hit the nail on the head. I thought it was a fine send off for Chandler and as actor on the show, as young actor we watched from childhood to being a young man. Considering that not that long ago (in the show's timeline), Carl was ready to throw down and kill Negan, it seems like his "there's gotta be a better way then this" is rather abrupt in the show. I guess the visions were actually Carl's in what he hoped "beating this world" would be. While it was a nice look, I just don't know that the unifying vision has the same impact with Judith that it would Carl. It would have represented growth for Carl as a character and what that would mean in terms of standing up against what his dad and the rest are all about right now. I do feel like the show killed off Carl for shock value and not so much plot (we already see in the next week's preview, Rick still wants to kill Negan...so ) Seeing Negan at the end of the vision greeting Judith just made me go "fuck you show"...I would have rather seen the characters Carl has been with then him. I felt like if they wanted to make Glenn and Abraham's deaths meaningful, they should have been a gut check for Rick and Company but that didn't happen, those deaths felt like shock value then furthering the plot along. The show really should be planning it's end game, how many times are they are going to run into another group/have conflict/rinse and repeat again. I will say Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira and Chandler Riggs did a good job with the episode. I did like Daryl telling Carl that the reason the folks of Alexandria are alive is because of him. But as to how Carl's death affects the group as a whole, I don't think it does at all, I don't think they change their way of operating. I got more teary-eyed watching the Carl retrospective on the Talking Dead seeing how much he's gone from a boy to a man then I did during the whole show.

i actually bawled like a baby seeing Carl die and i don't even know why. I thought it was Chandler's best acting in a long time/possibly ever which is ironic because he probably wouldn't have been killed off if he was more popular before.
The dialogue of this show comes across so corny and ridiculous sometimes...and the scenes are so dragged out.
The death of Carl can only be justified at this point if his vision of the peaceful future is realised. Hopefully soon, because Negan is getting old. There were so many opportunities to get rid of him.
Hopefully this is the last season, interest is dropping and there are much better written shows. You'd think that a show with this much following they'd have a good creative team behind the writers but nope, really dropped the ball.

They're already confirmed for a 9th season. But fuck this show. I hope their ratings tank because of Gimple's stupid decisions.

They're already confirmed for a 9th season. But fuck this show. I hope their ratings tank because of Gimple's stupid decisions. Last night's episode should continue the slide. Let's see what we found out: Rick reads Carl's letters to himself and Negan and still is like "Imma kill you Negan" Show tries to rehab Negan by making him look less homicidal compared to Simon and having the sads over Carl. I don't understand what Aaron and Enid were trying to do with Oceanside and then Aaron trying again with them. So let me get this straight, Rick drags Michonne to the trash heap to see if Jadis survived and she did. And then he was like, bye bitch when he realized she was surrounded by zombies. I'm like WHO CARES, why take the trip there? It was only to have a cool zombie scene and show her zombie disposal method which I did not care about. Basically I was all over the episode.

To anyone that's still watching... Did I miss something? Now suddenly zombie guts make you sick???
I did watch a bit of the Talking Dead and the comedian guest they had on there was spot on about Negan. He can't die soon enough.
