And here I think I have finally chewed down to what upsets me about the finale and FTW. They used a lame 'trick' of Benjen to lure him outside while he was doing NOTHING wrong. Jon needed to attempt desertion again for it to hit home. They struck out on that I think. It left the audience in despair for the wrong reasons. Yeah, there was a little bit of whitewashing going on there. A lot of storylines suffered from that in season 5 (Cersei, Dany). Definitely some of that happens with the 'main' characters, I agree. I'm not as fanatical with the 'whitewashing' hate like I've seen elsewhere but I do think they could have portrayed a lot more gray area for some of the characters who would have benefited from it in their development. For Jon, it seems to be the pivotal turning point in his story arc. Show viewers can handle Jon screwing up a little more - why leave it out? Why make it look like a big giant dick-move on the Watch's part when Jon clearly had conflicted motivations that would have worked on the show. I guess I will probably never get an answer to that. After watching a lot of reaction videos from unsullied viewers, I'm disappointed how upset they are at how Jon was betrayed. I think the point was missed entirely so for that I will hold the writers responsible in missing the target for why we were left conflicted about what happened in the book while on the show we're left despondent and angry.

THE HYPE TRAIN IS NOW MOVING AT LIGHT SPEED CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKER I don't think either of these lords is Manderly, though. One will be in three episodes and the other in two. They'll most likely be Manderly's allies or something, while Manderly himself could be a hand picked choice, which I hope is Ian McNeice.

I don't think we're getting Manderly. The lord of the Stronghold is described in sinister terms, so I'd say he's actually a Bolton ally. Maybe a Karstark.

Casting northern lords now screams to little to late but if it's a northern lord allied with Bolton I'll scream obscenities

Oh, he's the one described as a vassal, right? My mistake, the "vassal" is indeed a Bolton loyalist most likely.

The Northern Lords will be swearing their allegiance to the true Queen in the North soon Robert's Rebellion was launched because one man thought another had "kidnapped and raped" his beautiful Stark betrothed. Imagine what could happen if the Northern Lords are united under another beautiful Stark woman's cause? And this time, she really was kidnapped and raped. Ok - she did consent to the marriage, but damned if Littlefinger didn't trick her into that and he essentially kidnapped her (more trickery) away from the Vale where at least she was safe. The North Remembers! (Very exciting to read all those casting notes so soon!)

Snipped from the comments section of that casting article on WotW:
Is it possible the meek Maester they are seeking is Theomore? If so, then we may get a Davos / Manderly encounter!

It would have to be completely different though since they killed Stannis but I hope they contrive a way for Davos to meet up with a NL

Davos won't be going there to treat with Manderly on behalf of Stannis - so someone else will have to send him there or he'll have some other motivation. Maybe Davos becomes the voice of reason to help unite some of the Northern Lords? I don't know, just grasping at straws here!

I doubt it, Manderly's time has kinda come and gone. Idt they'd have Davos go to White Harbor just to hear about the promise. Rickon's not on Skagos and I don't see Roose or Ramsay ending up in a pie. If LF plays any role in getting Sansa allied with the Northern lords now....I swear to Bloodraven the old gods...

I think it's looking like early s6 will feature Ramsay trying to hunt down Sansa and Theon and her being sheltered by some of these Northern characters from the casting, starting with smaller fish like this "Father" from the casting call and ending with the Big Kahuna; our new Umber. That'll then reunite her with Rickon and put her in the position to make a move against the Boltons.
