And about FF7 in general... I would even go a step further and say that FF7 is my favourite video game ever and it has been ever since I first played it in 1998 when I was 9 years old. The story is the deepest, most philosophical, suspensful thing I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy in a video game. The only other game that comes close in terms of story depth is the Silent Hill franchise, IMO. The second best Final Fantasy instalment was FF9 for me. Maybe I should create a FF-thread. Final Fantasy 9 is pure perfection, it is actually my personal favourite game of all time. But I really love all the FF's - except maybe 13. I'd say 8 and 9 are on the top of my list, but I also love 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 10-2 and 12 very much. I think we are the same age, by the way, I was 8 years old when FF7 was released in 1997, and I played it like crazy. FF7 and Metal Gear Solid are the two games that have made the most lasting impression on me in my childhood, and today there is nothing more nostalgic to me than hearing the opening themes of these two games.

Final Fantasy 9 is a fantastic game. I think it's even my favourite FF in terms of gameplay. I loved that every character had his or her own skills. They were all so unique because of that. And it is without a doubt the most beautiful FF, even if the graphics are of course dated now. But the art design was incredibly charming. I loved everything about that game. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to play all FFs. I only played 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2 and 12. But I bought FF6 a few days ago and am really looking forward to playing it, since everybody tells me that it is one of the best instalments of the series. Yeah, we are definitely the same age. I must admit I was more of a Nintendo child. I owned the NES, SNES and N64 during my childhood. My best friend was the exact opposite, he was a Playstation kid. One day we decided to swap consoles. He lend me his Playstation with FF7 (which I had never heard of before at that time). I think it took me only 2 weeks to buy a Playstation of my own. I still love Nintendo by the way, but I am more and more disappointed with them. They don't live up to their potential anymore. They have such great franchises and yet they don't really use that to their advantage. The Wii U is pretty much dead and what they presented today was sad.

The Nintendo conference was embarassing to say the least. Aside from the Muppets sketch (pointless, yes, but kinda funny), they really blew it this year. I understand it's Mario 30th birthday, but they really need to tap the brake on that. 1/3 of the conference was on Mario Maker and honestly it's not a game that excites me at all. Starfox Zero looks good but was introduced very poorly. The Mario&Luigi crossover with Paper Mario looked wierd and more of a casual game compared to the Mario RPG series (Gimme Superstar Saga back!! ) The lack of the Zelda WiiU game hints to the fact that they probably moved the project to the console they're gonna announce next year, making it a launch title, and pretty much confirms that WiiU is in the Limbo-zone from now on. The new Zelda on 3DS looks nice but it's clear that it's just a time-buyer game that uses the "A Link Between Worlds" engine without much effort from the developers. And don't make me talk about that thing they showed with the Metroid Prime name on it. If the logo wasn't there to tell us that it was a Metroid game, NOBODY would have guessed it was. The only highlight to me was the Fire Emblem: Fates announcement which hinted to the fact that we Europeans and US gamers are gonna get a single version of the game instead of the two versions they have in Japan, which is nice. E3 this year was a blast (The Last Guardian, Horizon, For Honor, Final Fantasy VII Remake and the new Kingdom Hearts III footage were my highlights), but Nintendo's Digital Conference sucked badly.

Anybody else a fan of Red Orchestra here? I've been a fan since 2007, but haven't played much in the last couple of years. I'm not following this E3, but I just stumbled across this:
