I'm not. You know, considering. Me too. I was really afraid they might do one for Jon and that would have everyone freaking out more about the implications. I'm also glad they gave a tribute to Stannis. Preach. Btw I love the iconicity of this art: he doesn't show us the body, just the scar the sword left on the tree. And the two deers: the older stag and the younger fawn, waiting for their brother to join them... That's a huge amount of dirt in my eyes, dammit.

Don't know if this was posted already: Oh, the pain. Robert Ball is amazing as always, though. This is very reminiscent of that scene from Deathly Hallows in the snowy woods, with the (doe, not Stag mind you) patronus leading Harry to the sword I love this, in so many ways. The ghostly stag and doe don't just symbolise the deaths of Stannis and Selyse, but the complete extinction of House Baratheon. Oh and I just spotted a third doe in the background that looks young, so that is probably Shireen. Heartbreaking piece. And I guess this also seals the deal, if there was ever any doubt. Beautiful Death is official HBO, yes?

Beautiful Death is official HBO, yes? Right, I didn't spot the third deer in the far background, and assumed the older Stag and the younger fawn were Robert and Renly. But now that you pointed out the third one (and the fact that it's a stag and two does, one of them a very young one)... it's definitely Stannis, Selyse and Shireen. And I'm definitely in pain. Also, it's very nice to see Shireen appear (albeit allegorically) in this, after many complained about last week's BeautifulDeath was dedicated to Daznak Pit instead. Robert Ball delivers no matter what. Btw yes, it's official HBO material on commission, so this pretty much settles the question on both Stannis' and Jon's fate I guess.

A nit. The show economizes to the point that logical developments , that would cost nothing, don't get followed through. When Jorah and Daario leave why were two or three of Dany's Dothraki with them? Didn't see them in the Pit , but they had been around all season, even in season 4.

So all season long we were speculating about the 4 deaths of characters who weren't dead in the books. Did we arrive at any consensus on what characters that ended up talking about, or was it just nonsense?
Barristan, Mance, Trant, Shireen, and Selyse all definitely died. And probably Myrcella and Stannis also died. Which makes 7 ish.

I don't remember where the source of that "4 characters" quote was from or if it was at all legit but I think it's fair to say that they've exceeded it a great deal.

Maybe now its safe to assume that Stannis is actually still alive? Right? Wishfull thinking on my part... I want my StanStan!

Stannis was doomed the minute he burned Shireen, but many book readers saw it coming long before since that hasn't happened yet in the books. Here's a great list of reasons Stannis dying now actually helps progress the story: https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/3b289t/spoilers_all_how_the_season_finales_stannis_moves/

But I can still believe! Is your name Orson Lannister? Because your crushing my dreams here! Sorry! I'm not trying to be mean ... just hoping people come to grips with it and appreciate that at least he had a clean death and not something at the hands of the Boltons. I know a lot of people were really upset by how they played it out. I personally don't understand the Brienne hate, but whatever - everyone's got an opinion. I *do* think they bungled his ending though - it was rushed and disjointed and there wasn't nearly enough build up to the battle itself that made sense. It felt like they just threw it all in there in the last two episodes to be done with it and that's just a shame because Stannis is definitely a very interesting character who will be missed. I pretty much always knew he was a goner but I didn't expect it that way so soon.

Trivia : In the books many high born can speak High Valyrian (a court language) some well , some not. Never brought up on the show, till S5 E9 E10. First Ser Jorah ,he had spoken Dothraki before, I guess a fluent Valyrian speaker. Tyrion now, who I think does in the books , I think. I guess it's a given that Varys does , it should be his 'mother tongue'.
In interest of time , I guess, they are gonna skip over the fact that in Braavos everyone speaks Braavosi Valyrian , tho , of course , being a merchant city , besides the high born and educated, should be many many common tongue speakers.
