I loved WotW. It felt grand and was easy to understand where and what.

Blackwater. Just watched snippets of it to be sure because it's been a while. Hardhome is close though.

Best battle episode as a whole is definitely Blackwater for me. That episode was a master class in writing, directing and acting. Then comes Hardhome and then Watchers on the Wall, though all three episodes are probably in my top 10. When looking at the actual battle sequences only, it's a different ranking for me, though: Hardhome > Watchers on the Wall > Blackwater
Funny how rankings vary, depending on the criteria.

Blackwater. Hardhome had the best battle IMHO, but Blackwater had better non-battle scenes.

Blackwater, not only did it have the best battle, it also had the best characters involved. It was intense.
Watchers on the Wall loses this one narrowly, people shooting down a wall that sized seemes ridiculous. Also it seemed that Mance only attacked with a little army. The battle of Castle Black on the other side of the wall was fantastic.
Hardhome was good but not as good as these 2. The weird camera angels and super sped up scenes.

Blackwater was good, but I really didn't like the Hound and Bronn scene.
Watchers on the Wall was great throughout.
So was Hardhome, but Hardhome had the highest highs out of all these episodes. So I think Hardhome was the best one probably.

I'm going with Hardhome, because it was awesome and scary and gran and very consequential and also because I've developed a crush for the Night's King and his pure badassery.

If I had to rank: 1. Hardholme 2. Blackwater (one of the best changes the show made was having Stannis rather than being stuck on a boat like he was in the books, it really showed the difference between Stannis and Joffrey and the fact that Stannis wouldn't have his men do anything he wouldn't do) 3. Watchers on the Wall

It's kind of hard to choose between Watchers on the Wall and Blackwater for me. I went with Blackwater because it had more characters I loved in it.

Blackwater. I thought the lines were better for the characters, Tyrion's speech, Cersei's story to Tommen (you know, before puberty aged him by ten years) about the lioness and her cubs, and Stannis' classic "the dwarf has played his little trick", or in fact, that whole scene. Also the action with Bronn and the Hound, Stan on the walls, Tyrion leading the attack, Tywins arrival... There was a lot more happening than any of the others, and a lot more established characters involved. I remember watching as an unsullied thinking Cersei would kill Tommen, and then Tywin would come in after. But nope. Hardhome is a close second though. If we had a few more established characters in the battle it would have ruined it. The battle was perfect IMO. Well, D&D call it a massacre so I guess its a massacre.

Blackwater is the better overall episode, despite having the weakest battle sequences. Marshall pulled out all the stops with WOTW, and Hardhome is fantastic. But Blackwater has the focus that Hardhome as an episode lacks, and the brilliant character interactions that WOTW doesn't quite live up to (despite having some lovely one's like Sam and Maester Aemon), as well as far bigger stakes than WOTW.

I really wanted to vote for Hardhome (in fact I did just that at first) because it just slammed in like a tornado and didn't ever slow down. I know the battle took mere minutes (12?), but the impact of it was just shattering - and I can't remember anything else about the episode, not offhand.
But I had to go back and change my vote to Blackwater. It was the entire episode and showed all aspects of the Battle, not just the really beautiful 'fireworks' out in the bay itself, but what went on with the women and children within the keep and what went on outside with the men up on the battlements. I loved getting a close-up of favorite characters as they experienced it, from Tyrion's bravery and brillant ability to hearten the men, to Joff's cowardice, Pod's loyalty and bravery, Sandor's trauma triggered.
And for some reason WotW just didn't really grab me. Dunno why.
