I got it about a year ago when it was on a super sale, but I never spent the time to figure out how to play it. It's one of those games that looks really fun when you figure it out, but the learning curve looks beyond frustrating. Yup, it's quite complex, but worth the effort. I'm still learning. What DLC's are useful when you play this mod? I heard that some of them add new features.

Aztec Invasion is the most useless, like seriously, who wants Aztecs to invade Medieval Europe?

To me it's mostly because of the bookmark, because there's still no HRE, Europe is overrun by pagans and there are still Zoroastrians in Asia.

Oh right you're talking about the base game, not the Game of Thrones mod! Took me a while to figure that one out - I don't recall seeing Charlamagne in Westeros!

Oh, I didn't even notice you were asking about the DLC's effects on the mod! I think there are none, really. Only The Old Gods, The Republic and Legacy of Rome affect the mod, I believe. I don't think you can play as the Free Cities without The Republic; The Old Gods gives the Greyjoys a few more features; and Legacy of Rome only gives you the ability to blind or castrate people. i've hear that Sons of Abraham enhances the mechanics of the Faith, but I'm not sure.

Started a playthrough with Aurane Waters in the feast for crows- campaign. It's jolly good fun. I succeeded to conquer Tyrosh and Lys and now I'm attacking Myr. I won't attack Westeros yet, because Dany rules there now and she has dragons. The problem is, I have 6 daughters and no sons. If I won't get a son in time, my game will end.

Can't you change the law of inheritance to Agnatic-Cognatic? If you have the Way of Life DLC, change your focus to seduction and bang everyone until you father a bastard, then legitimize him.

Oh, all right then. Maybe I should buy that DLC. Shouldn't really cost much. EDIT: Done, but I was too late. Aurane died of severe stress and my nephew inherited. How can a character become a pirate? I would like to take my Kingdom back.

Oh for fucks sake.. I started one campaign as Maelys the Monstrous and was losing quite badly, some miracles happened and I managed to turn this around. Then I attacked King's Landing, chased up a few smaller armies and then I was preparing to face a small army who tried to retake KL. What happened? Some fucking lowborn killed me, game over..

I'd also recommend to avoid going raiding as an Ironborn if you have no heirs

I decided to do a play through with the Karstarks in AFFC! I wed Sansa, so that my son would get a claim on Winterfell and the North. I got a son and a daughter. Okay. I pushed Sansa's claim and won Roose because of my amazing blitzkrieg tactics. Sansa declared herself Queen in the North and I was her King. Fine. We have a son, heir to everything what she owns. Suddenly Karhold has a horrible greyscale infection and nearly everyone is infected who carries the name Karstark. It eventually kills me and then for some reason, I'm playing as my daughter. What is this madness? Why did my younger daughter inherit before my son?

It's very rare, but sometimes my second child becomes my heir for a few months and then the inheritance returns to my firstborn without expanation.

Should I load an older save or should I wait for a few months? Keep an older save before the bug, but keep playing as well. If it screws you over, just reload the older one.

It's always a good time! I tend to play Total War more just because it's generally a quicker game but the Westeros mod hasn't been updated in about two years now (though it should be almost at v1.0 by now and an Essos version is quickly coming together), but it also tends to be far more frustrating than CKII because the AI is a bit fucky. I haven't got it yet because the £30 price tag feels a bit too much I will get it though when the price goes down or Steam has a sale @fireandblood - I know this is really late and the eleventh hour but there's six hours left in the Steam encore sale - CKII is 80% off at $7.99 US price... which is insane compared to it's normal cost. I had to choose between it and the GoT TellTale series game and chose the Telltale one as it's been on my wish-list a long time. Unfortunately I just don't have a lot of money this summer and not as much gaming time either for that matter so I went with the casual story/point and click game. Maybe later I'll pick up CKII ... just wanted to let you know it was on sale so low! Here's the link... store.steampowered.com/app/203770/

Edit: eh screw it, I went ahead and got it because I'll kick myself a month or two from now when I want to play it and pay full price. 80% is stupid to pass up! I don't know when I'll be able to start the mod but eventually I'll catch up after I do the TellTale games and all this other crap I picked up on the summer sale! (Starbound is a game I have no idea why I didn't buy a year ago! - addicted!)
