After seeing some of the reactions to Sansa's rape, I wonder, is there anything the show could spoil, change, or interpret in such a way as to make you stop watching? I have a feeling most of the people who post here are willing to allow the show and books to exist in different planes, but we're also passionate fans who have fallen in love with certain characters. And I think a lot of fans, more on other boards than here, are guilty of being so attached to pet theories that they can't handle it when the show shows us something different than our expectations.
I know a lot of us think a certain favorite Mannis is going down in the Battle of Winterfell this season on the show. If that happens, how would you feel? And do you think your feelings about it will be significantly different than they would be if ADWD had ended the same way? What if GRRM has the battle end differently? Is that even possible?
I think Dany is a protagonist and will remain so, but some think she will go villain. That would piss me off (not for any rational reason, but because I am attached to the character), but if it happened, I'd assume that GRRM was going to have it happen as well, so I wouldn't blame the show, even if I saw it there first. I think. It takes a lot of mind-bending to deal with these emotions the show elicits.
Anyway, I don't think any outcome would make me stop watching or stop reading, but maybe D&D or GRRM will surprise me. What about you?

If Ned dies.If Khal Drogo dies.If Robb and Catelyn die.If Oberyn Martell loses the trial by combat. If Stannis dies, and this time I mean it.

Stannis being flayed. If he dies a heroic death I'd be devastated but keep watching, but if he dies like this then fuck that noise.

I said I would stop watching if Catelyn did not return from the dead. Still, I am watching and still have hopes she may come back this season a la aSoS epilogue (yes I am a sad and bipolar person)
But now there isn't anything that can possibly happen that would make me stop watching. If all the Tyrells die this season I will definitely quit, but that's not happening... is it?

Once I get into a show, I stick with it no matter how bad it gets. I stuck with True Blood even when it turned to shit. I stuck with Rescue Me when it got worse. I hate watched The Walking Dead for an entire season, I'm in this for the long haul no matter what.

Probably nothing. Maybe Sansa dying. I would need to spend an appropriate amount of time mourning before going back to it though.

We can rely on an army commanded by Randyll Tarly to save them, right? Would love to see him arrive at the gates of Kings Landing to show the rose has some thorns. Also, on the note of Lady Stoneheart - . I've heard some theories of the show doing Sansa Stoneheart, but I hope D&D don't go down that route.

Nah... I'm pretty sure it's her or nothing. Sansa Stoneheart or - yeekssss - Talisa Stoneheart don't strike me as possibilities at all

Ned died. I am still here. Robb and Catelyn died. I am still here. I root for characters but I am not as invested in the rest of them (because I learned the hard way people) as I was for those three. When people say, 'I'm done if my favorite character dies...I'm like oh sweet summer children...let me tell you about pain..."
I will watch shows for the long haul until they get too stupid (see Hawaii 5-0, I am done with that after this season because the storylines got real stupid)...so unless Sansa and Theon take a helicopter and drop a nuclear bomb in the Narrow Sea, Game of Thrones and I will probably be on solid terms. Not that I won't complain about storylines but I will probably be around until the end (unless we have to cut our cable and no longer have HBO before the end). It probably helps knowing that the show does have an end date in sight. If Lost did not end in season 6, I probably would have stopped watching after season 6 because I disliked that season but I knew it was the end, so I watched faithfully. I watched True Blood until the end even though it had gotten really stupid in it's final seasons.

Brienne killing Stannis.
I have already accepted that Stannis CAN die, propably fighting the WW. That would be a heroic death. But Brienne killing him? I. Will. Quit.

I don't think Brienne will kill Stannis. I think she may get close, perhaps killing Selyse or Davos with Stannis either killing her or imprisoning her. Hopefully Brienne's lust for Stannis' blood is stopped and she joins forces with him, but alas that will likely not happen, at least not while Mel is around. Then again, look at how Jaime/Brienne evolved.

Maybe Brienne will change her opinion of Stannis after they share a tender moment during a hot spring confession.

Stannis dying would be upsetting. I would be outraged even if it happened in the books. Brienne killing him would be even more upsetting. He deserves a heroic death where he sacrifices himself for his kingdom. I want Davos to tell Dany about how much of a top bloke Stannis was.
I wouldn't stop watching the show but I would feel empty inside. I have never been so attached to a character than I am of Stannis at the moment. This is not a good thing. He has been alive for too long.
If the show and/or the books will make Stannis become the Night's King, I will quit. He's better than that.

If all my three favourites - Stannis, Davos, and Theon - would be dead, I'd basically lose all reasons to continue watching...

Man, this is something I've been fearing for years. We have been set up to love characters that are naturally opposed to one another, and we've seen few of them clash yet. If I have to watch Arya kill Dany or Dany kill Sansa, I will scream!

If the show stops entertaining me. I can't imagine there's any one deal breaker that could do it. I'm more of a plot kinda guy than a favourite character kind of guy, and anyway, there's so many characters I find interesting. If Stannis dies I'll be very sad though.
Also, people hoping for a heroic death for Stannis are kidding themselves. He'll die a pathetic, humiliating or pointless death, like basically all the major characters in this series.
