I think it was designed with that in mind. Her legs have a lot of room to move. Although, it also looks very... thick? Maybe she's wearing something underneath it and she removes it like she does in the book. Compare with the similar dress she wears in 5x07, it doesn't look quite as bulky. She is wearing her faux Dothraki boots, maybe she has her ersatz 'Dothraki riding' gear underneath? Not her Dothraki leathers , which I suppose she kept.

I wonder if the dress she's wearing there is designed to be fire retardant, which would explain the bulkiness.

But her head and arms are still exposed.

Yeah, I doubt she would be exposed to any real flame. At least not outwith a controlled environment where a flame-retardant dress would be necessary. I expect it would be similar to what happened in the catacombs, where Drogon breathes his fire, but not directly at her.

Who the fuck voted no? Me :/ sorry. I just don't think she is flying OUT of Meereen. Just as I said, stay around burning people. I don't see her leaving all of her supporting cast on Meereen while she flies somewhere. I hope I'm proved wrong, though. I agree. She'll fly around Meereen, burn shit, and return the pit to kill Sons of the Harpy. She has to fly, but she doesn't have to land in the Dothraki Sea.

How long do you think she'll be on Drogon for?

How long do you think she'll be on Drogon for? I would imagine the CGI would be extremely difficult to execute for very long without it looking fakish, so my guess is we'll see her get on and fly away in E9 and her first scene in the finale will be just her and him resting in the Dothraki sea without a shot of her on him.

We know from the summary for 5x10 that Dany will most likely encounter the Dothraki, so she's getting out of Meereen one way or another.

Yeah, now that we know the summary for 510, she's definitely flying out of Meereen.

I'm curious about something. For those who were in the fandom before ADWD's release, what was the general consensus on whether or not Daenerys would fly Drogon? Was it something that was just unanimously assumed was going to happen, or did she still have some haters even then who denied it was going to happen?

Didn't expect it so soon though. I thought it would be a while before she mounts him. I am praying that he reaches Balerion size before going to war with the WW's.

I don't think she will burn Meereen, since there are also her people in the city. Maybe Drogon will aim for the tiers of Daznak to eradicade the Sons of the Harpy though.

Is it really necessary to start accusing the writers of 'not understanding the source material' simply because they cut or change something?
They understand it better than all of us, and Martin wouldn't have chosen them to adapt his story if he thought they didn't.
Anyway, I think she flies because the season has seemed to lead up to that moment...Drogon is most definitely big enough to do it, too. And it is the 9th episode, after all- which usually means we get something spectacular.

Bear in mind this I'd all hypothetical but Daznak is a huge moment for Dany's character and if they cut it then I don't care how much GRRM sings their praises, I will accuse them of not understanding the material if they managed to fuck up that badly

I just hope Emilia is good because it's been building up to this moment.

They know what happens to the characters. We don't know any of that past this season. I'd say that we are possibly the worst judges of whether or not the showrunners "understand the material". And that people pretty much say this every single time they change anything at all, no matter how minute. Basically...I think it would be more prudent to wait until we have the end of the show and the end of the books before we can say "They fucked this shit up!"

I don't think the fact that they know how the story ends means we still can't suggest they don't understand the material if they make an arse of something. I mean, I haven't accused them of not understanding it outwith the hypothetical scenario where they cut Daznak, but if others feel that is the case then they are welcome to say so. And there is plenty of reason to think they don't, they were once quoted as saying that they never ever thought of cersei as a funny character until Lena read for the part (I'm on my phone so I have no receipts for this but if you want a link I'll get one later) Cersei is fucking hysterical!
