I was not expecting to hear the OG Game of Thrones theme for the opening credits. I thought it would be something new, but it was nice to hear it again. Loved the opening credits. I really liked the episode. I like that they show so much of the friendship between Rhaenyra and Allicent (though RIP to that now) but it made me think that it's not something we saw a lot of in the OG series. Sansa had Jayne in the books and eventually got a bit closer to Margaery, but I felt we didn't really have a young female friendship to follow along with. King Viserys sucks but I did appreciate "she's 12" as a con to the proposed marriage he got.

Not got a chance to sit down and watch yet, but that intro is one of the most epic and cinematic representations of incest I've ever seen.

First episode gave Considine and Smith most of the attention so they were my standouts, but I'm glad this one gave everyone else plenty of time to shine. This cast is great, gonna be a shame when we lose some of them to the time skip. I will say although Mysaria's acting is fine, the voice sounds a bit off to me. Almost sounded like ADR, like someone else re-recorded the lines after the scene was shot. And I enjoyed hearing the title music again but being honest I could not follow what the sequence was showing. With GoT it was immediately obvious what the gist of the title sequence was, though there were some minor details like the 'history rings' for people paying attention. Took me many watches of this title sequence to realise they were showing crowns and meant to symbolise the previous kings. But that could just be my tiny brain in action. But those are my only complaints, I honestly loved everything else, and probably enjoyed this more than the first. I don't know what our threshold for spoilers is so I'll play safe. I love the misdirect they're going for in making Daemon an antagonist. Gonna be interesting to see how that perception changes.

Really great second episode. Mr. Krabs seems like a real big threat.
I'm enjoying the politics. This is exactly what was missing in the last few seasons of thrones. The complex families, feuds and backstabbing.

Also: one thing I expect to be gushing about every week is the costuming. So many people in this episode their sigils on their chests just like how they’re described in the books: Viserys, Corlys, Otto - one of the Kingsguard candidates even had a giant eagle on his cloak and chest. And they pull it off really well! Last episode was also great with the different Gold Cloaks look, Daemon’s tourney armour, and Daemon’s bright red sleeves. It’s a welcome change from the blacks/greys/browns of late GoT in particular.
(Admittedly not a fan of the Kingsguard helmets but I can overlook that)

I love watching the show with my friend who knows nothing about what is going to happen lol. I can't wait to see his reaction to certain things.
I saw GRRM say he prefers Viserys in the show compared to how he wrote him, similar to Shae.

Guess I posted in the wrong place.
Loved the last scene - Daemon was great. Nice shot of him draggng the Crab King's torso out of the cave. Also love it when Rhaenyra gets bad assy. Even the scenes when she's just sarcastic. "And what have you done for the realm lately, Ms. whatshername, besides eat cake?"
Wasn't enthralled with Shadow and Stone but watched it b/c somebody gave me the books for Christmas, but I did love the White Stag part of it, and so loved seeing the White Stag appear to Rhaenyra.
Can't wait for somebody to punch Hightower in the face - or worse.

Also meant to ask - what are the houses in the opening? Moves too fast for me to see inside the circles.
PS Just realized I posted in the wrong place again. My comment was really about Ep 3, so I hope I didn't spoil anything for anybody who hasn't watched 1.3 yet.
