8/10. The acting, music, effects, etc were all spot on. Again, what holds it down is the writing.

To be honest ... I think the writing has been a dumpster fire for a long time now. To me, season 8 didn't feel any different than 5 to 7 in terms of the quality of the writing, they just continue to do what they've been doing ever since they ran out of books to adapt. I realize this may not be the most popular opinion, but it is how I feel and it is also the reason why my reaction to this season wasn't quite as extreme as some people's. For the past few years, I've been watching GoT for rather superficial reasons. And from a technical point of view, the episode was flawless. The music, the acting, the cinematography; it was out of this world. And if on top of that they give me some cheap fanservice, like the Queen in the North scene ... I'm okay with that too. I didn't have any expectations that it would actually be good, so I wasn't disappointed. Hope this explains the 10.

I forgot to vote.
It's a 4 for me. Despite the good acting and some interesting shots, I can't get past the rushed writing, the plot holes, and derailed character development.
It's a terribly mediocre ending for a show that used to be one of the best.

For me the writing is the most important element. I'm not a fantasy fan, too many predictable tropes and cliches and plot armor. ASOIAF appealed to me specifically because the writing was phenomenal, it could have been any genre or framework, the writing and characterization was unmatched in modern fiction as far as I'm concerned. To see these chary I'm invested in become unrecognizable in the past couple seasons has been disappointing.
The acting, music, and cinematography has been flawless, but without the writing, it does nothing for me. The first season had no budget but it was compelling because of the writing. The books were just words on paper but they were compelling because of the writing. Writing is the one thing you can't half-ass and expect to satisfy the audience. I just can't enjoy season 8 because of the writing. My score of four is strictly for the hard work of everyone but D&D but man am I disappointed.

But I agree that the writing has sucked for several seasons now.
