We don't have enough book discussion on here, through no fault of our own since there is a finite amount of things to discuss and a lot has been talked about both here and on other places, so I decided to make this thread.
I began my re-read last night, so I'm hoping to post here and try to generate some discussion.
This will be my first full re-read of the series, hopefully, so I'm looking forward to seeing characters long gone, and refreshing my memory on things I have forgotten (Tyrion and Dany's ADWD Chapters are all a blur to me).
Anyone else interested in, or has recently, re-reading?
Also if I think of a better thread title, I will edit it.

I do have interest in re reading but I refuse to do it until a release date for winds is announced soI may never read them again. My motivation is currently hopefully based in, "maybe he'll announce after GoT ends and I want to make sure I have time to re-read them all before it comes out".
My hopes are fanciful, but at least I have hope.

I think I would do a re-read once Winds is announced.

I re-read the first 3 late last year, pretty much at the same time I started rewatching the show, but stopped doing both because I got caught up with other stuff. Then a few weeks ago I re-read Feast quite quickly, and watched the last few seasons of the show just before S8 started, but haven't gotten back to reading Dance. Again I'm just too busy, but I hope to have finished re-reading Dance by the end of the month. It's quite interesting to watch the show while having the books fresh in my mind since it means I can compare them much more easily. I realised for instance that I'm a bit too hard on ShowStannis in his moments of "unlikability" when BookStannis can be far worse. The show is also generally better at making me care about the side characters. For example, seeing the supporting Night's Watch characters when they die in the show (like Grenn and Pyp) as opposed to randos that the books introduce then immediately kill off (like Deaf Dick). In fact I find the show's Battle of Castle Black to be far superior to the books, where Jon spends the whole two chapters shooting people from a tower. Structure-wise, the latter half of season 4 is probably better than that portion of the books. The first day of Tyrion's trial takes up most of one chapter, with Oberyn offering to be his champion at the end. The next Tyrion chapter begins with Shae's testimony and then ends with Oberyn's death in the trial by combat. The way that the show adapted those chapters is far better imo. Looking forward to re-reading Dance, although I almost feel like I don't have re-read in order to know that some of S5 is worse
