After 7 fucking seasons we finally saw the Lannisters lose something. Amazing. Too bad Dany missed the gold though. Talk about plot convenience

I loved everything about it tbh, except how much of a douchebag Bran is now LOL.
Jon and Dany in the cave was honestly like magical or something. The music and the atmosphere was perfect. I really wanted them to kiss haha.
Missandei's speech about Dany was nice. Hopefully that'll counteract all the "Dany is an evil tyrant" bs.
Cersei and Tycho was fine. Not a standout scene but it was good for what it was.
Sansa and Arya was nice. It was tense, which was to be expected, but I think I'm starting to see the love and respect between the two of them I've always wanted.
JAIME LANNISTER VS DAENERYS TARGARYEN THO. Really exhiliarating stuff. Up there with Snowbowl.

I'm just too bothered with the Lannister plot armour that required the gold to make it into KL offscreen. Really bitch? So now Cersei can afford an even bigger army, and all Daenerys destroyed was FOOD?
Cersei 3x0 Daenerys. This show loves the Lannisters too much for my taste (and hey I'm a Lannister supporter usually)

There was a lot of plot armor, especially for Bronn and Jaime but it looked great so I'm okay I'm really bothered with how they are portraying Bran and his goodbye to Meera. it feels so unfair.

Yeah I didn't like the Bran/Meera scene much either. Seeing Ned in the crypts always gets me.

Idk I get what they're doing with Bran. He's lost in his visions. I hope/am pretty sure he will start acting like himself again at some point, but right now, he's so overwhelmed with knowledge that he probably can't help but be distant.
I think they're kind of overdoing it, but I see the point they're trying to make lol.

But nope.

So now Cersei can afford an even bigger army, and all Daenerys destroyed was FOOD? Cersei 3x0 Daenerys. This show loves the Lannisters too much for my taste (and hey I'm a Lannister supporter usually) Dany destroying the food was a bit of a stupid decision too, really. You don't need to eat girl? You sure? Alight, you do you. There was a lot of plot armor, especially for Bronn and Jaime but it looked great so I'm okay I'm really bothered with how they are portraying Bran and his goodbye to Meera. it feels so unfair. Jaime charging towards Drogon with a lance was giving me all kinds of awesome Arthurian vibes and now I need to see The Warlord Chronicles adaptation tomorrow. But agreed, some stunning visuals. Meera deserved a fucking hug. She did indeed. I feel like D&D didn't really know what to do with either of the Reeds, hence why Jojen was killed off so early and Meera gets such a lacklustre farewell. Actually I think they struggled quite a bit with Bran's story overall, probably because it's the most fantastical. Which is a shame because Bran's character and story is one of my top 3 in the books. Holy shit, just realised (WoW spoilers) That Dragonglass cave scene is probably the show equivalent of Arianne's scene in the Stormlands

I hated that we now know how the Aegon storyline will go down, as they gave his arc entirely to Cersei. He will be the main oposition to Daenerys, allied to the Reach, Dorne and the Golden Company. Euron will also play a role in this. And I'm guessing Cersei and the Tyrells will continue their gossip game in KL until she burns it down (last episode of season 8)

Why do we have a review thread and a discussion thead? WHERE DO I POST? WOW what an episode. They do indeed keep getting better and better. On the roadAh, Bronn. How I’ve missed ye. You can tell they’ve been saving some of his best witty lines. That’s partially why I expected him to die this episode. King’s LandingI’ve already forgotten about this scene. WinterfellThese scenes were a rollercoaster of emotions. That Stark music as the camera pans around Winterfell ... Oh man that was nice to hear. Bran’s reaction to Meera saying goodbye was kinda what I expected when she said that. “You died in that cave” They’re really loving their S1 callbacks aren’t they? Arya at the gates with two guards – “this is my home” – was really obvious. Maybe it’s just my (partial) rewatch that has attuned my senses to this sort of thing. Also… is Arya still blind? “Doesn’t look like him” – That statue is the fucking spitting image of Sean Bean! She needs her eyes tested. Seeing the three Starks enter the courtyard together is so heartwarming, topped off with Pod’s “Catelyn Stark would be proud”. More tears Brienne is too hard on herself though. She didn’t do next to nothing to get the Starks back. She did marginally more than that. Arya training with Brienne made me imagine that's what it would've been like when Rodrick trained Rob and Jon. Really nice to see. DragonstoneEmilia was really good this episode. I may even say better than the first episode, and that’s tough to beat for me. Dany and Jon in the caves was also really good. Dany's one-on-one conversations with people are often her best. The Children on Dragonstone was not something I had expected at all, and I really loved seeing their patterns all over the walls. The idea that Sansa told Jon about Theon flew right over my head, so that scene didn’t go where I thought it would. I was expecting a punch in the face. Minor nitpick: I thought the Jonerys stuff was a little heavy-handed, but far from the point where it ruined the scenes. FIELD OF FIREBetter than KRAKENBOWL and, despite being significantly shorter, possibly better than Blackwater. The effects were astounding this episode. This easily, EASILY makes up for not a lot of action in CR and Highgarden last week. During that charge I thought of nothing but the Ride of the Rohirrim. Well, Ride of the Rohirrim + a giant dragon. There was a shot in this of some random guy on fire casually walking about who was immediately hit by a horse, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so loud while watching this show. Kinda ruined the moment of horror but whatever. This episode toyed with my poor heart. The second Jaime told Bronn to go to the scorpion, it sank. I thought: this is it. This is how Bronn dies. Roasted by a dragon. Or worse; killed by some random Dothraki. But no! He lives! In fact for a moment I thought he killed Drogon. And then when Jaime started charging and I thought he was a goner for sure. But no way is he dead. Maybe whoever rescued him (Bronn, yeah?) is, but Jaime can’t be. He has a prophecy to fulfil! Overall, incredible. Best episode of the season so far.

D&D definitely did not know what to do with the Reeds at all. Meera deserved better but having Bran lost in his visions and forgetting his humanity (and basically making him plot exposition) is probably what they took away from the Bran storyline which I am sure will have more depth in the books. For instance Arya to Sansa: I had a list of people to kill. Sansa: Awkward laugh. Later that day... Bran: Littlefinger gave me the dagger that someone tried to kill me with, so here you go Arya. I'm a cripple and can't use it so you do you girl and finish that kill list. Sansa: Da fuq? I liked the battle scene showing the real cost of dragons in battle. I am sure Jaime and Bronn are wrapped in plot armor and not dead, even though Jaime should be drowing in all that battle armor and with one hand. Was it wrong of me to say to my husband: Wouldn't it be cool if they actually went ahead and made Dany a villain? You can throw tomatoes at me but I was like #teamjaimeandbronn AKA #teamplotarmor I hope the Lannisters get out the word that she basically burned up the food (sure it will be forgotten in savior Dany storyline). I like the fact with Arya and Sansa being happy to see each other but also awkward around each other was very realistic, as much as I want my Starks to be like ...they've all been through so much at such a young age...they are not the same people who were rolling in Winterfell when the show started. And Bran, I think the show is trying to get at, is being burdened under the knowledge he has. I do wish that they would build statues for Catelyn, Robb and Rickon.
