9. Would have been a 10 but the gawdawful election brought it down. I thought the election was pretty good. The adventures of Pod & Brienne was the only part I didn't like. Dorne was kinda weak too, but it was a quick scene, and we got to meet Doran!

8.
disappointed in Jaime getting Bronn, Ellaria in Dorne and Arya's initiation into the HoBaW
Thought they wasted time with Arya's arc and much preferred the book here.
from an unsullied perspective the brienne/sansa/LF confrontation was exciting and i enjoyeed watching it (no matter how much the idea was stupid)

An 8. Am I the only one who thought this was worse than The Wars to Come? I gave it a 9.
Pros and cons
+ Book dialogue
+ Lyanna Mormont's letter to Mannis
+ Doran
+ Mannis
+ Kevan
+ Barristan telling Dany about King Aerys
+ Stannis' offer to Jon
+ Bronn
- Brienne just casually informing that "HERE IS A STARK, WHO BTW IS WANTED FOR REGICIDE!"
- Brienne deciding to follow Sansa, who has a garrison of guards protecting her, while she decided to quit looking for Arya, who was alone in the wilderness
- Drogon's face looked weird and different than what we've seen from dragons in previous seasons and also Viserion & Rhaegal in 5x01 looked different
- Stupid outfits of House of Black and White people
- No worm
- No Boltons and Reek
- Arya killing pigeon that easily

9. Would have been a 10 but the gawdawful election brought it down. I thought the election was pretty good. To be fair, the election was my least favourite part of the books (in their entirety), so I was never going to like it on the show no matter what they did.

[/quote] Great points, all! I, too, thought one of the most touching aspects of the Drogon scene was that it revealed the human, fallible side of Dany, feeling the tremendous burden of ruling. Damned if you do, damned if you don't (though I did disapprove of her execution decision - perhaps I was being too harsh). Here she really did seem like the "I'm only a young girl" that she's always pretending to be as a ploy. And I loved that it showsd she and Drogon do still share an empathetic, virtually telepathic, connection. I only hope she can salvage caring relationships with her other two children.

7. Some very good bits, some bits that made me sigh. I liked the premiere better, but the difference wasn't enough to dock a full mark off. So, consider this a 6.7

8½
Some parts felt really really rushed (Stannis offer and the election for example). Great to see Dany's struggle, I think she did the right thing in the end. It was really great to see Doran & Hotah, Kevan not approving Cersei and Stannis's offer. Great episode overall, better than the first episode!

I quite enjoyed it, especially loved the Wall + Meereen stuff (as I did in 5.01, too) and other great things like Lyanna's letter and the offer, Sam's speech, Shireen/Sam/Gilly, Kevan being badass, Qyburn qyburning around, Bronn/Lollys/Jaime - That's an 8 for me!

Bit of a theme developing here; Wall and Meereen have been strong points in both episodes so far, at least imo. Kinda surprised tbh, I thought those two areas would struggle and Kl would shine, but it's the opposite way round for me

Guess I'm seriously in the minority here. I thought it might very well have been the worst ep of the entire series. I gave it a 3 and , if not for the great acting efforts, it would have gotten a 1. It's not just the departure from the books. I've always been a big show supporter. I love the books and have also been enjoying the show as simply an horse of a different color, enjoying each media for what it is. But, many of the chosen situations depicted in this ep were simply mind boggling.

What scenes were particularly mind boggling, or can you pinpoint more specifically? I liked the ep, mostly, but will sometimes have a similar reaction.

For starters, the Red Viper was just killed by the great Lannister villain, Gregor, ratcheting up the seething tensions in Dorne, and you, a Lannister minus your dominant hand, no less, figure it's a good idea to waltz on down there. Good plan. Brienne's story arc, admittedly my least favorite and I feel most boring in the books, makes no sense and no point in the show as portrayed. Especially the meet up with Sansa. Arya's overly lengthy inability to gain admittance to the House of Black and White served no purpose. I figured after being kept sitting out in the rain, they could have cut to the doors being open. But, no... we had to see the "non-fight" confrontation in the alley. I know they had to start him off somewhere/somehow. But, I thought Tyrion's scenes were pretty pointless. I got what they were trying to do. But, to cut so much to dwell on his drunken depression... There were other things that I frowned at, too. But, enough ranting and raving. By contrast, last night's ep, with the various it's departures from the books at least made sense to me in terms of getting from point A to point B faster than the books.
