I gave it a 9, because God, the acting in this episode was SO good. I had some problems with Brienne and Ellaria's scenes, but acting all around was just top notch tonight.

First nine of the season. Better than 501. Better-paced.

I'd give it 9.5 if I could just for the Lyanna Mormont letter but since I can't 9.

I rated it a 9. Loved seeing Jaquen! I clapped when he appeared - was really afraid he'd just been brought back to do the voice of Kindly Man. Also really liked his forbidding first guise. Loved the Drogon scene, he was almost purring. Really liked Baristan laying out for Dany how Aerys did himself in. And then Dany turns around and publicly executes the former slave who killed the Harpy awaiting trial (really?).
Loved the Wall scenes, initially disappointed in the greatly abbreviated election arc, but am OK with it now - there's so much to cover, it had to be shortened, and I think the essentials were there. Liked Jon's little smile when he read the note Lyanna Mormont sent back to Stannis. Also like how it's obvious that Stannis likes Jon. I can't wait for the "Ed, fetch me a block" scene!!! Surely they won't cut that.
Loved the Small Council - Pycelle! What a joke! Kevin's walking out - good move! And there sits Qyburn...another scene I loved was when he asked for the dwarf's head "for his work"..
Not so crazy about Tyrion/Varys scene - it just didn't seem to have the usual pizazz - it was short on those clever quips. Not so crazy about Doran/Ellaria scene, though I like Doran.
Didn't much like Brienne/Pod scenes. Where is that all leading, I wonder, especially if LSH won't be appearing.
I think the Jaime/Bronn/Dorne will be good.

10/10.
Every second of it.
Will be watching it again I suppose.
And yay, finally Dorne. I'm so glad that I don't have to move *that* wheelchair of Doran's.
I liked Bronn and Lollys. She didn't strike me as that dim-witted though.
Qyburn and the dwarf's head. Uh. Got me.
And a hell of a Pod! I loved the horse hunt. Daniel was awesome. "Stop!" and his falling into the stream. Perfect.

Re: Dany executing the former slave
I think it was the right thing to do. This former slave was part of Dany's council and he chose to disobey a direct order. Not only did he violate the law he undermined Dany's authority. Even after the fact he couldn't even show some contrition about killing the slaver. He wanted mercy because he was former slave not because he regretted breaking the law. If Dany is to rule all of Meereen she has to show justice is blind. If she begins to show mercy from the start she would have looked week. You can show mercy afterwards once people know you are a fair and just ruler.

Someone over on the other site said Joffrey, I disagree with both. Maybe if anyone it was Stannis like. I agree with MoIaF though, it was the right thing to do.

I thought of Tywin because of this quote: "When your enemies defy you, you must serve them steel and fire. When they go to their knees, however, you must help them back to their feet. Elsewise no man will ever bend the knee to you. And any man who must say ‘I am the king’ is no true king at all. Aerys never understood that, but you will. When I’ve won your war for you, we will restore the king’s peace and the king’s justice."
Especially the bolded part. I put it in bold.

It was the right but unpopular thing to do. Kind of like with Robb killing Karstark.

Also, I agree that killing him was the right course of action. He murdered someone awaiting trial, no matter how obvious their guilt was.
