If it makes you feel better Basil Michael Myers freaks me the hell out. Out of all the horror movies out there, I won't watch the Halloween ones because I will have nightmares about that guy. I saw A Quiet Place. Really good movie. John Krasinski was hot looking in it. I won't say it was scary but it was very tense and some parts were very sad and I cried. I know there's been some Oscar talk for this movie and I'm not sure the Oscars will remember it come Oscar time (Logan was released this time last year and had Oscar talk and Oscars were like, new phone who dis when it came to Logan). But if the Oscars do happen to remember it, I do hope Krasinski gets a nod for best director and actor. And Millicent Simmonds gets a nod for best supporting actress...her and Krasinski's scenes together were astounding. I've been saying since The Office days, John Krasinski was an underrated actor. I am glad people are starting realize he can do more then stare into a camera. He was terrific in 13 Hours and in this one. I am looking forward to his take on Jack Ryan on Amazon. There is talk of sequel to this movie and I think it doesn't need one, unless they focus on different people and the first days after the incident went down. Even doing a prequel on Krasinski/Blunt and their family would be hard to do because the kids would be too old to reprise their roles as their younger selves.

Saw Deadpool 2 It was pretty funny, there were a few bits that might have gone a bit too far. Especially with the child actor - but i guess it was more what was implied. It might have been because there was a kid in the cinema

Yes, because Richard Madden was in it. It was an OK movie, not much depth but the chemistry between Gillian Jacobs, Phoebe Robinson, and Vanessa Bayer was spot on...Richard was hot in it (fans self), showed a surprising comic touch and had hot chemistry with Gillian Jacobs. I want a follow up for both of their characters.

Amazing, i should check it out I would have never expected him to have that hot of a chemistry with Gillian Jacobs ( I ship it and want a follow up with their characters, do it Netflix), but here we are. Judging by her IG stories feed and comments on the promo tour, she was digging working with him. like I said, it's an OK movie. It seems to try to do three things: be a rah-rah of female friendships, raunchy comedy and romantic comedy. I like the fact that they showed women not being catty to each other, competing against each other or anything but in trying to be all those things...it doesn't quite succeed on all fronts. However, the cast is really charming and make the movie better then what it is.

I love Suspiria and I'm actually okay with the remake happening because the original is dated.
But Chloe Grace Moretz fucking sucks. So does Dakota Johnson. I really hope everything else distracts me from their performances.

Looking forward to this ... but didn't Jamie Lee Curtis' character die in one of the previous movies?

Basil they're ignoring all of the sequels. This is only following the original movie. I think it's smart, it's much scarier if Michael targets Laurie for no reason, making them related kind of deflated that terrifying senselessnes.

I can see that, but I also kind of liked that they were related. There's something terryfying about a murderer who specifically targets members of his own family. And I also like the dynamic it creates by them being siblings, it's almost like there's some super twisted form of love and obsession between them.

I can see that, but I also kind of liked that they were related. There's something terryfying about a murderer who specifically targets members of his own family. And I also like the dynamic it creates by them being siblings, it's almost like there's some super twisted form of love and obsession between them. I agree on a conceptual level but the execution of the sequels never actually added any depth to that theme. In fact it undermined the characterization of Michael Myers from the original film. The family relation was essentially a plot device used to keep Michael Myers coming back time and again for each new sequel. But the idea of motivation for Michael is in my opinion not as scary as the initial vision. Take a moment to forget everything about the sequels and view the first movie in a vacuum. Everything you need to know about Michael Myers is conveyed through the fear of Dr. Loomis. There's a scene of young Michael sitting in an empty room at the asylum, staring silently through the window as Loomis describes his brooding over the years. It's a bright and sunny scene but one of the scariest in the entire franchise. I've always thought Loomis was describing him in a similar way to the shark from Jaws. Behind those eyes there's nothing, just an instinct to act in it's nature: to kill. Throughout the entire film Loomis is dehumanizing Michael because he isn't a man as we know it. He's pure evil. From a psychological perspective, there is an understanding why somebody would lash out at family members, that's too humanizing of a concept for Michael Myers as portrayed in Halloween. If you can begin to understand, you can almost empathize, which is the wrong direction to take with this character. Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and every slasher movie villain from the 80s on had a backstory and explanation as to why they killed Michael Myers was entirely unique in his lack of prejudice. He was the first equal opportunity killer. Michael Myers was a force of nature. It's more accurate to describe him as the grim reaper than a killer with a motive. Laurie Strode seemed selected by fate, not by any earthly reason why she should be targeted. Which makes the relentless nature of Michael Myers all the more terrifying. This is an inescaple situation which one can't understand or bargain with. He's the ultimate violation of suburban America. A place where we all felt safe if not invincible. Michael Myers is the metaphor for the nightmare we cannot understand on a rational level, the anxiety that lives underneath our skin. He's the boogeyman. Halloween is like my Star Wars. The second film was brilliantly shot and very suspenseful, but I'm happy with the retcon because it looks like this film understands exactly what made Michael Myers so terrifying in the original film. And I couldn't be more giddy about the direction they're taking here. I am so excited for this, I think it's going to scare the crap out of me.
