Every now and then a movie review gets a Bark-Laugh from me, this from the NY Times today:
"The schlock-cinema connoisseur Michael Weldon once described a particularly logy Roger Corman picture as “70 minutes of ‘Huh?!’” The new sci-fi film “Assassin’s Creed,” based on the popular video game series, is 70 plus 46 minutes of “Huh?” '

Also in that NY Times Review:
"For an ostensible action movie, the cast spends an awful lot of time standing around and looking lost. I can only guess that they were following their director’s lead."

Fassbender is in ALIEN: COVENANT coming up next year. I swear I don't know what gets into Scott, Prometheus wore out the Alien prequel concept, not looking forward to this one. I do go for Scott's production design , he found a good story with The Martian , after a lot of bad story telling. He did produce the Blade Runner sequel , also next year, have to see how that one goes.

I don't understand why it seems to be both a period piece but also set in present day. Is that how the games are? Seems unnecessarily convoluted.

In Assassin's Creed your character is reliving the memories of his ancestors by using a device called the Animus. So basically the in-game explanation is that you are literally playing a video game version of past events.

A Roman assassin isn't interesting enough?
