This is a place for me to post videos of musical songs and other broadway related stuff without spamming other threads with it. Pretty sure I'll be the only one posting here, but whatevs. I've been listening to a lot of Phantom of the Opera lately. I can't get over how beautiful this song is.

I would not object if Ramin Karimloo wanted to abduct me into his underground lair.

Also this super weird promotional music video. Note the different lyrics! That's because they were originally written by Richard Stilgoe, but Webber was unhappy with his work, so Charles Hart was hired, who then rewrote pretty much the entire libretto, although some of Stilgoe's original contributions are still present in the final version. Steve Harley, the Phantom in this video, was originally supposed to play the Phantom in the stage version too, but he was fired and replaced with Michael Crawford. Charles Hart gave us lyrics like these. You have brought me, to that moment where words run dry, to that moment where speech disappears into silence, Silence ...
I have come here, hardly knowing the reason why. In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenceless and silent. And now I am here with you. No second thoughts. I've decided ... decided.
Past the point of no return, no going back now, our passion-play has now, at last, begun. Past all thoughts of right or wrong, one final question: how long should we two wait, before we're one?
When will the blood begin to race, the sleeping bud burst into bloom? When will the flames, at last, consume us? Past the point of no return, the final threshold, the bridge is crossed, so stand and watch it burn! We've passed the point of no return ...

Beautiful piece of musical theatre history. I was one year old when this was recorded.
Peter Hofmann was such a perfect tenor.

Basil, did you hear anything about Julie Taymor directing the Broadway version of Frozen? I think it could translate really well to Broadway but having kids at the height of Frozen's popularity...I don't know if I could take it on Broadway But maybe enough time would pass and I'll be ready.

No, I haven't heard that. Good choice, probably, she directed Lion King, and that turned out great! I'm not sure how I feel about a stage version of Frozen. Believe it or not, I'm not the biggest fan of the movie. It's not bad by any means, and it has that one amazing song, but overall, it's not one of my favourites. Also the basic story is more or less just a retelling of Wicked with different characters.

One of my favourite moments in theatre.
Watching this live for the first time at the age of 14 made a lasting impression on me. I was there with my parents, and I remember that my mum started crying, just because the music and everything was just so overwhelming. It really almost gives you a heart attack when out of nowhere the overture starts playing.

Also sitting right below the chandelier is fucking terrifying, especially when it comes crashing down at the end of act 1.

Unfortunatley the quality in far from perfect, but here you go (you don't have to watch it though ... please don't feel obligated to watch it ): www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRHHJ5WIknnPeWiJO5aacgvKY1OnPpYnuHere's one of my favourite songs from the musical: By the way, the show is based on Roman Polanski's movie The Fearless Vampire Killers. In the movie Sharon Tate played the main female character Sarah.
