Remember in Mortis how Rex (or Cody, can’t remember which) said that it has only been a minute when they woke up even though they were on Mortis for like two days? That’s what happened here too. Filoni talked about how these worlds between worlds exist outside of time and space, so Ahsoka and Ezra were only gone for a couple minutes and were returned to their times like barely anything has passed. It takes probably five minutes for Hera and Zeb to free Sabine and wait for Ezra, but he was in there for what must have felt like hours to him just wandering around. So Ahsoka was put back exactly where she was two years ago, knowing that Kanan would be dead and she would need to meet up with Ezra eventually. I guess the short answer is that it didn’t happen in the past or the future, it happened outside of time but they were returned to where they came from with knowledge that can’t be acted on until time allows it. So maybe Ahsoka will show up in the finale now that time will allow her to find Ezra or maybe she’ll get her own series once Ezra’s story is complete. Ah, so she's not "back" on Malachor, but she's been elsewhere for ~2 years? I wonder how big a role (if any) she'll play in the finale. I'm wondering if Filoni is setting up for Ezra and Ahsoka to go off and do their own thing, Ezra might renounce his Jedi status so Yoda's words in ROTJ ring true and they're not still with the Rebellion come Rogue One. To be honest, I'm a little conflicted about Ahsoka's return. On the one hand, I'm glad she's back and we'll get to see more of her. But on the other, I just can't see an end to her story that would be as emotionally satisfying as what we got in Twilight of the Apprentice. Ultimately though Filoni would've written this years ago, around the same time as TOTA, so I trust that he has a plan and knows what he's doing. Also here's something interesting that was pointed out to me: I was initially confused how there was a finite number of portals in the world between worlds, but one of them allowed Ezra to see Kanan's death. But the symbol above that portal is reminiscent of the symbol of the Sith, so it was an illusion created by Palpatine, and had Ezra tried to save Kanan he probably would've ended up in the Emperor's palace on Coruscant. EDIT: just rewatched it, of course it's Palpatine. Kanan's voice morphs into Palpatine's when he reveals himself. Stupid me Well at the time we see her, she is back on Malachor, just after the fight with Vader. We don't know where she is now, two years later after Kanan's death, but the way I'm interpreting this is that she's waiting until she can meet back up with Ezra. For him, it'll be like she saw her yesterday, but for her she won't have actually seen him for two years. And I don't think there's a finite number of portals. They said on Rebels Recon that it was so hard to animate that they decided to create a little planetarium of portals and just place a bunch of paintings of space in the background so it would appear that it's an endless path

So Ahsoka (or Ashoka as ol' Sheev says it) is back on Malachor? I get the feeling the finale's gonna be too busy to come back to her at some point. Please Filoni give me closure. Felt so weird hearing Jyn and Rey in the portal world, and trying to wrap my head around what happens in the past and what happens in the future is kinda confusing Remember in Mortis how Rex (or Cody, can’t remember which) said that it has only been a minute when they woke up even though they were on Mortis for like two days? That’s what happened here too. i fucking love zeb and hera gotta put those goggles on for MAXIMUM WOLF SPEED I love how frightened he was of Rukh last episode. "I don't want to look! It's got creepy eyes!" Also "Wolves and a Door"? Starting to think this isn't just a mural on a wall. A door maybe? If so, MORTIS NEXT EPISODE GET HYPE! Oh its for sure a door. These are the same wolves that led them to the portal that took them to the other side of Lothal when their base was exposed. I assume its a door that takes Ezra into that Rainbow Road looking thing in the trailer where he finds the convor.

If that wolf is Kanan he needs to stop being a dick. I'm so sad about him I feel like I shouldn't have put so much thought into Kanan and Hera's relationship though, from reading the novels to the show. This is ultimately a show aimed at a younger audience and I felt like they simplified it too much. They acted as if that's the first time they had kissed or told each other "I love you" and I feel like they have probably done those things before, but just knew the mission came first. And Sabine and Zeb not killing Rukh makes no sense to me (other than too brutal for younger audiences) Sabine just killed a handful of Storm Troopers a few hours before, why is this different? I think killing Rukh would just give the Empire more reason to push their “LOOK AT THESE REBELS THEYRE SAVAGE MURDERERS” narrative. Sending him back as a warning shows they’re not running away just because Kanan is gone, they’re growing stronger from it.

I usually use Phoenix Squad to blast through Galactic War, but it hurts so much today At least it's appropriate for Kanan to soak up all the damage... THE AUTO-TAUNT IS KILLING ME

I'll copy my comment from Reddit:
Kanan's death was beautifully done. The beautiful symbolism in his eyes. His entire life after Order 66 had been searching for a purpose, for a vision of his future, for clarity. He found it in Hera. On a different note, I can't wait to see Thrawn dealing wih Pryce. His transmission to her is the angriest we've ever seen him. It's especially satisfying after reading the Thrawn book, and knowing that this isn't the first time Pryce's ruthless tunnel-vision mindset has interfered with Thrawn's plans.
Or maybe the rebels will capture her first before Thrawn gets the chance. She's with the rebels at some point as we see in the trailer, and she doesn't seem like the type to defect (nor would they ever accept her for that matter). Speaking of which I wonder when we'll next see Kallus. There's been too little of him this season.

And here I thought this line was just a cruel joke on Filoni's part, but no... He had to go and make me cry I'll copy my comment from Reddit:

Actually, they were on the Disney XD app earlier, so depending on how you watched them I guess you were watching them earlier. They definitely stopped the multiple airings throughout the day very early on because it sucked. But yeah the final episodes are only going on the app after they air so they aren't spoiled.

Dude they stopped that after the first episode Canadians were complaining because they're in the same time zones as all of us but the episodes were only airing at night there, so they were getting spoiled. After that, they started airing them at 9 PM EST Wait what? That can't be right. I swear I watched the new ones on Mondays and not Tuesdays (like I would've had to if they were released at 9pm EST). Were they not showing them at various points during the day or something? It can't have just been the first episode. It can't be... Yeah that was only the first episode, maybe the first two everyone hated it so they went back to normal like immediately.

Well turns out I'm definitely not read because the episodes aren't even out yet! I was under the impression that they were released at 12am in the US like the first half was. Whoever does the scheduling for Rebels needs to be fired. Like last year after the mid season break, we got three episodes and then a random four week break before the next one. And S4's scheduling has just been all round weird. It's so irritating. Dude they stopped that after the first episode Canadians were complaining because they're in the same time zones as all of us but the episodes were only airing at night there, so they were getting spoiled. After that, they started airing them at 9 PM EST

Father of Dragons and day dreamer if what we assume is happening in Rebels happens, I would recommend you read both the Kanan comic series and A New Dawn. The comic series is one of my favorites and explains his backstory and A New Dawn is how he and Hera met, so it might be a good time to look into those.
