Ehh I'm on the opposite fence with Joker and Herley's relationship in the movie. Their relationship was never suppose to be healthy, but the movie glossed over that very easily in favor of the "evil" duo fanservice. I mean for fuck sake, the Joker electrocute Harley in that flashback. Batman's cameo is definitely cool tho. Edit: Just thinking about it makes me want Poison Ivy in the DCEU. i just liked that it was different. it was a big diversion from the comics, which makes lots of people uncomfortable because nerds don't like change, but i thought it was a welcome switch-up. i know it was controversial due the whole abuse conversation, but i was just glad to see something new lol.the whole "harley being a lovesick punching bag" thing got old in like 2002. and yeah poison ivy is overdue, especially since harley is such a big character. harley being in the birds of prey makes literally zero sense to begin with. it should have been the team up of her, ivy, and catwoman that actually makes logical sense. but, as much as i adore margot and her performance, i don't think she actually really gets harley. which becomes a problem now that she has so much creative control. and that's how we end up with something like Harley Quinn being in the Birds of Prey.... I agreed that Harley being a punching bag does gets old and the Batman animated series did a great job with that. But I wish the movie acknowledge that their relationship is abusive since they were never meant to be healthy at all. The only thing i'm interest is seeing other female characters like Black Canary, Babara, and Cassandra Cain. I don't care for Harley since they constantly pushed her popularity in out faces, and I know they will definitely do that. Edit: However, part of me wish that Birds of Prey do well so that hopefully we could get a film on Gotham City Sirens and have Harley, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman together.

Had they fixed the editing and cut out Jared Leto scenes, it would make the movie more tolerable and at least not as bad.

I'm really consider going to watch the Joker after reading the reviews. The only negative things I read about it is the way it handled the message. Can be a tricky subject to tackle in a Joker movie since it caters to those particular people with the "we live in a society" thing. Yeah as soon as the early stuff about this movie came out, this was also a concern of mine. A risk about making the Joker the protagonist is that a lot of people will conflate that with thinking of him as a 'hero', and I was really hoping that the movie would clearly spell out that he's a bad guy so as not to give those sorts of people more ammunition.
But really after thinking about it, I don't really know if it matters whether the filmmakers clearly get the message across. The ending of the Dark Knight makes it very clear that the Joker is in the wrong, and yet there are hordes of people online who seem so believe that that character was totally correct. Ultimately I think they will see what they want to see, so when I watch the movie I'm just gonna try to enjoy it on my own and ignore them.
Wow, watching a movie without getting caught up about other people's opinions of it. For me, that's a radical thought.
I feel like any kinds of movie that tries to teach some messages will inevitably attracted some Misaimed Fandom - the opposite of what it was intended like Fight Club and Saving Private Ryan. I'm worried for Joker the most given the political climate we are living currently and a lot of reviews from people who watched it at the Venice film festival has their own take on it. Edit: Same. Gonna go watch it with my own take on it.

That part about Symmetra nerf reminds me how the Smash dev treated Little Mac. lmao Poor dude is the lowest tier character in Smash, but Sakurai's team seems to love nerfing him harder as more patches more.

Heard that 13 Reasons Why just triples the dumbness in season 3. Waiting for a video from Pretty Much It to rip the shred out of it.

so you guys know how a new arkham game is literally like the only thing that would make me happy in life at this point? well they were gonna make a follow up game, and guess what? the studio cancelled it. i had heard rumors about it for the longest time, and just last week, some concept art leaked. it was set after the final game, and would follow Bruce Wayne's son Damian through a sort of apocalyptic looking Gotham, and would feature some old and new villains. seems to be some sort of mix between batman beyond and battle for the cowl. but i will never play this game, because it will never come out. i am a sad boy. Exactly how many people felt about that Silent Hill game and Konami.

So I several months ago, I have many friends who watched the Spiderman Into the Verse movie and all of them annoyingly praised it on repeat. I couldn't get to watch it due to my busy schedule and it's a struggle trying to get to watch it all while avoiding spoilers. And now I finally get to watch it last night... and Holy freaking shit it's so good. First of all, the animation . If it's in CGI like any other action movies, it wouldn't have been great as they really made it so fresh and original. Any scenes with the action is so steller and beautiful. (Just for an interesting side note, I met one of the animation co-directors Patrick O'Keefe at my animation workshop. He showed us one of the process on the animation and it's amazing how much they are able to create on digital.) The story and characters are spectacular. I loved all of the characters and how much they are able to squeeze all of their arcs appropriately. I liked the movie's take on their origins. Miles Morales' is obviously the best and they did a good job fleshing out his character as coming from someone who isn't well-known. I also loved that they did the comedy and drama very well and balance out each other. The MCU is nice and all, but this movie made tons of jokes that is very appropriate for some of the moments and it's not cliche. I almost regret not seeing this in theatre, but hey, it's better than nothing.
