so i don't know a ton about resident evil lore beyond what i played (umbrella creates the g-virus and all these monsters kind of spawn from it) so like...how did massive vampire milfs factor into everything? cause it seemed more like science fiction than supernatural to me So basically, the first three games in the series (as well as all the associated spin-offs and remakes) were about the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City, which was caused when Umbrella discovered the progenitor virus and used it to create bioweapons. But that storyline kind of ends with RE3, and since then the series has gone off in many different directions in terms of its plot. Resident Evil 8 is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, which was lowkey a soft reboot to the entire series with only minor connections to the previous games (even though it does technically still take place in the same universe). And in RE7, you had a new kind of fungal bioweapon, refered to as the Mold, which functions very differently from the viruses of the previous games. Obviously I have not played RE8 yet, but I assume the tall vampire lady was a normal human once who was infected with whatever new type of bioweapon RE8 has in store (for all we know, it could just be the Mold again - in RE7, there was a molded character who also grew twice the size of a normal human when shit went down). That's what usually happens with bad guys in Resident Evil games, at some point they mutate. So, I guess, tl;dr: tall lady is tall because she's probably infected with some kind of bioweapon, just not the same as the one from RE2. I highly doubt she's an actual vampire. Resident Evil as a series has never gone full supernatural, it's always been about science gone super wrong.

Resident Evil 8 looks phenomenal. I can't wait to play it.
Resident Evil has always been a franchise very dear to me, but ever since I played the recent remakes of RE2 and RE3 and Resident Evil 7 in VR, I admit my appreciation for this series has skyrocketed, to the point where I now consider Resident Evil to be my favourite gaming franchise.
RE7 in VR especially was ... life changing. I used to be a VR sceptic, but after having played it for myself, it has completely changed my perception of what gaming could be in the future, especially in the realm of horror. The levels of immersion a game like Resident Evil can achieve in VR are out of this world, so I hope RE8 gets the VR treatment as well.

Over the holidays, I binged The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, which is something that I wanted to do for years. I honestly don't know why it took me this long. I remember back in the day (I'm talking like 15 years ago) my friends telling me how great The Last Airbender was, but for some reason, I never came around to watching it. Legend of Korra I started watching a couple of years ago, but only made it halfway through season one and for some reason, never picked it up again until now. And yeah, I really, really loved them. Like, a lot. Like, those are two of my favourite shows of all time now. I fell in love with the characters, the worldbuilding, the art style ... the brilliant comedy. Not that I ever expected it to be bad, but I didn't think that I'd end up loving it so much. It's an absolute masterpiece. Not gonna lie though, what makes me a bit sad right now is that both shows, in my opinion, didn't have the greatest of endings. They were cute and all, but both left off with many, many unanswered questions, unfulfilled character arcs and this lingering feeling that there are so, so many more stories to tell with these characters. That the short time we got to spend with them was only really the beginning of their journeys, and that the best is yet to come. And yet, the series ended years ago and we'll never going to see them again, and that makes me sad. Maybe that's just me, and maybe it's because I binged both shows in a very short time span, but I've never felt so unfulfilled with a series finale. I've never wanted so bad for a TV show to give me more. Oh ... and I also rewatched the Shyamalan movie and I guess now I truly understand why people hate it so much. It was fucking terrible.

Looks like I have a game called Outlast in my Steam library. I'm guessing I made a drunk purchase after people here recommended it to me. It's good, you should play it. In other news, my PS5 arrived and it is legit the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. It's huge and honestly looks more like some kind of modern art sculpture than an electronic device. But hey, at least now I can play Sekiro and Dark Souls in 60fps.

Cyberpunk is an absolute ugly and unplayable mess on the base PS4. I've honestly never seen a game this buggy. Sometimes, it takes up to a minute for the assets to load in properly, meanwhile, the game's textures look like something out of the PS1 era, or are missing altogether and you're surrounded by invisible walls. I dig the story so far, but it's so bad from a technical point of view that I'll probably wait for the PS5 version before I keep playing. Also, the customizable penis thing is kind of strange. I've nothing against it on a conceptual level ... on the contrary, I'm all for nudity and sexual content in games geared towards adults. But what's the point of the game allowing you to customize your junk and even adding jiggle physics when you're never going to see it outside of the inventory screeen? It's not visible during the sex scenes at all, and even when you take all of your character's clothes off, he's still wearing underwear in-game, even when he takes a shower. Like, let me see my penis when I look down, please. It's bad on last gen for sure. I didn't actually realise they were even gonna try a last gen release until I was talking about it with someone at work the other week. Don't see how they possibly expected a game on this scale to work on that tech without a proper redesign. Dunno if it was just them being greedy, or contracted to it or something, but yeah, it was a dumb move. Apparently a proper fix for the last gen consoles won't be available for a few months, but if that's the case, just delay the last gen release till it's ready... Yeah, the penis makes no sense. I took the option purely to see the reaction to people to me walking around with my junk out, but that's not an option apparently. Such a cock-tease. Well, it looks like Sony decided to delay the game again on CDPR's behalf. They'll be removing Cyberpunk from the PlayStation Store until further notice and are also offering full refunds to anyone who bought the digital version. As far as I'm aware, this is unprecedented. The truth is, Cyberpunk is not the first game to be released in a broken state on consoles, so it's really interesting to see that Sony has decided to take such a firm stance on this.

Like, let me see my penis when I look down, please. On another note, the Game Awards were pretty disappointing this year for me. The only exciting part for me was the Dragon Age 4 trailer, and even that was super vague and didn't give us a release date or even a release window. The Last of Us II winning like every major award was disappointing to see as well. Not because I think the game is bad ... I mean, I don't think it's as good as the first one, but it had its moments and was a decent experience overall. I just don't believe that a studio like Naughty Dog, that is so notorious for subjecting its employees to incredible levels of crunch, should win stuff like "Best Direction" Maybe that's just me, but it feels wrong, it feels like it validates these kinds of practises. And it's not like The Last of Us II was the only good game this year either. But I do love the fact that Nobuo Uematsu won Best Score for Final Fantasy VII Remake.

I managed to get a PS5 pre-order in for the second wave, which will be delivered mid-December. The only one that was still available was a bundle with the new Spider-Man game and two controllers, which makes it significantly more expensive than if it was just the console ... but at this point, I'm like, whatever, as long as I have the system before 2021. What a fucking ordeal, seriously. Not only did Sony screw up with the first pre-order wave, the scalpers have been absolutely ruthless with this one. I've seen people on twitter brag about using bots to order dozens upon dozens of consoles, just to re-sell them on ebay for double or triple the price. And the worst part is, people actually buy them. That's such a scummy thing to do.

Anyone watch the PS5 event just now? They announced Final Fantasy 16, God of War 2 and showed more footage from Resident Evil 8. I'm insanely hyped about all of that.

Renée Goldsberry really makes this show for me. There are so, so many incredible, unforgettable performances in this filmed version of Hamilton, I feel a bit weird singling out a specific one like that, but I just completely and utterly fell in love with that character and the actress portraying her. Renée plays Angelica with so much strength and intelligence and heart, it's honestly hard not to. One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking moments of the show for me was during the closing number, when Eliza sings about Angelica, and mentions that when she died, she was buried near Alexander. That little moment, that line just absolutely killed me. "She is buried in Trinity Church near you. When I needed her most, she was right on time."
I didn't know much (or anything really) about the historical Angelica Schuyler before watching this, and I'm aware that the musical probably takes plenty of liberties with historical facts and figures, but it made me super interested to find out more about these people. And If I were ever to visit Manhattan, I would really love to visit Trinity Church and put flowers on the graves of Angelica and Eliza. That's something I would really love to do one day.

To me personally, I think the entire score is absolutely brilliant, like every single song is amazing to me. But Satisfied is definitely my favourite and the one I've been listening to the most ever since I saw the show. And it's not just the song itself ... the blocking and the choreography of that scene are freaking phenomenal and I love the way it contrasts with Helpless. It's basically the same scene, but from Angelica's perspective, and re-watching Helpless afterwards and seeing how Angelica is trying so hard to keep up appearances for her sister's sake is absolutely heartbreaking. Renée Elise Goldsberry's performance made me fall in love with that character.
Another song I really love is It's Quiet Uptown. Lin-Manuel Miranda may not have the best vocals in the world, but he's such a good actor and he acts the hell out of that scene especially. I've seen the show so many times by now and the moment where Eliza takes his hand and he starts crying kills me every time.

Yeah, Hamilton is really fucking good, holy shit.
I have owned the cast recording for a while and have always liked the music, but experiencing the story attached to the songs and seeing all the outstanding performances, it was out of this world. I've been listening to The Schuyler Sisters and Satisfied on repeat for the past week, Renée Elise Goldsberry makes this show for me.
Really glad Disney decided to release this on their streaming platform, but I also hope they still plan on going through with the theatrical release once covid is over, because I would really love to see it on the big screen and with an audience. Also, apparently there was a German production of this show planned for 2021, but I'm not sure if it's still happening after everything. I would love to see it live on stage, but I'm not sure if it's gonna work with translated lyrics and all.

Resident Evil 8 trailer I got myself a PS4 VR set recently and played through the entirety of Resident Evil 7 in VR, and it was honestly sort of life changing. I was never all that interested in VR to begin with and thought it was kind of gimmicky and overhyped, but experiencing it for myself for the first time was incredible. It's insanely immersive, you really feel like you're inside the game, it feels so real, and it works insanely well paired with horror games such as Resident Evil. Can't wait to play RE8 in VR as well.
