Can't disappoint fans if you never finish your book. George R. R. Martin has never disappointed me. It was just a joke, Basilburger!

I'm one of the rare fans that absolutely loves Dany's arc in TDWD, probably my favorite arc in the entire series, but Tyrion's arc in that book was a real chore. Totally pointless. I definitely agree that the Dany arc gets too much negativity - I really liked some of the internal Meereen stuff. In fact I liked quite a lot of Dance; Jon, Davos, Stannis, Theon, Barristan, and some of the Feast characters towards the end like Jaime and Cersei. I just didn't like the long travelogues that either led to nothing or something underwhelming: like Tyrion and Quentyn.

I never really loved Tyrions POVs (except aCoK when he was mentally sparring with Cersei and the SC) but aDwD was really difficult to get through his POV. Dany was interesting because it's pretty much a complete internal/spiritual journey for her. From young, naive p, idealistic young girl to Blood of the Dragon. Her last two chapters are among the best of the series to me. Dance also benefits from having Bran and Reek chapters, which are fantastic and wonderfully written. Oh and Barry If GRRM kills him off... Weakpoints of Dance for me was the POVs from Jon Snow and Quentyn. I like Feast too. Especially Brienne's chapters...suck it haters.

I would have like Dany's plot in Dance if it weren't for a certain blue-headed horny manslut that always butt in Dany's governing. I know that's the point, but still hated that fuckboy and fuck him for making Dany so weak and stupid. And again, i love the idea with the political fractions revolving Mereen and Slaver Bay, but it was executed in an lackluster way that it made the story and the concept itself uninteresting.

I just had the worst thought. I know what kinds of weird mental gymnastics writers go through. I wonder if George has ever hoped he dies before people get too disappointed so he'll be remembered for what he accomplished instead of for how long he stalled.

I prefer the original. This one's just too on-the-nose. Also Is this how they actually write the scripts?

And yeah, the scripts are full of stuff like that. CVH told a story on Seth Meyers about how in the scene where Mel tries to seduce Jon, the line in the script was "Melisandre looks at him like bitch please." That's kind of funny to me lol.

Although it's heartbreaking, i'm still glad they cut parts of it. It's seems out of character for Stannis to say all that and it's breaking the rule of "show, don't tell" narration. Like some of the others said, Dillane's acting is already enough to express his emotions and characters.

I don't consider the following a spoiler. Book wise, for readers of the books, for readers of the excerpts of Winds of Winter, Stannis is still alive. But then so is Ser Barry. I am not sure how this impacts the prose story going forward, we shall have to see how it impacts the visual drama by season 8.
