Ghost would have died in that battle, it was pure carnage, no way he gets out alive while the Boltons are surrounding them with lances. And the episode had a lot of CGI already with Meeren, the dragons, and Wun Wun. I for one I'm glad he sat this one out. He's sat out practically the whole season though. I miss him. I know. Is one of the downsides of limited budget. Hopefully the next seasons will keep their budget even though there are less episodes, so we can have more Ghost (and maybe even Nymeria, although I don't dare to hope)

Tyrion mentioning wildfire pretty much confirms Cersei's scene.

Man guys... that whole HBO NOW server crashing thing was like getting fucked right before a battle, you don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Seriously.
I'm eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream as consolation ... with the spoon right in the container and I dun' even care!!
Gonna re-watch episode cos' I was pissed for the first 30 minutes and missed a lot of the amazing-ness of Meereen.

But there was barely any reaction this time around. We were all to enthralled in the episode. The Meereen stuff was absolutely amazing. I'm happily surprised by that.

Yeah I can't believe how epic Meereen turned out to be - what a surprise! I mean, it pales by comparison to Snowbowl as far as raw battle hype, but they really went all out on those CGI effects of the ships, the city under siege and the dragons. DAMN. Dany on Drogon's back looks 110% better than it used to so they've upped their game there. I was a little surprised at how abruptly Yara/Theon showed up. I had hoped to see their ships ramming the master's ships up the ass (figuratively of course) but oh well, the rest of that was amazing!

Okay. Sansa is pissing me off. She bitched at Jon for all that crap in the tent about not knowing anything about battles but just COMPLETELY decides not to tell ANYONE that she might have backup coming???? Stupid. All she had to do was say hey I wrote a letter more people might be coming. I don't understand it, I really don't. Why didn't she say anything?? Am I alone here or?? No, you're not. Sansa was my least favorite part of this episode. I'm glad she got to watch Ramsay get ripped apart at the end. And I liked how her smirk walking off mirrored the one she did in King's Landing when she no longer had to marry Joffrey, but it was incredibly stupid of her not to mention the Vale army to Jon. I know they'll address it next week by the promo "we have to trust each other." but I can't imagine any acceptable excuse. I wish we would've gotten one scene of Ghost though, maybe up guarding Sansa.

Did we see Karstark die? I don't remember seeing his death. Isn't he the one who got his throat bitten out by Tormund Berzerker?

Did we see Karstark die? I don't remember seeing his death. I don't think we did. Only Smalljon Umber (which was amazing. Tormund went all Rick Grimes on him)

Y Yeah, it would have been nice to see Yara and Theon sail into Meereen and help out in battle but looking at everything that went down, there probably wasn't a budget for it. I am glad, however, that the scene they all shared in Meereen was reall, really good. Dany had been all fire in blood in the Dothraki sea but now sh's back to wanting to make the world a better place, along with a badass/kickass partner. Those two girls are gonna fuck things up.

It is kind of insane to think how far the show has come from needing to knock Tyrion out before a battle in Season 1 so they didn't have to show anything to this episode. I honestly don't think I've seen a more involved sequence depicting a medieval battle in any other work on film in existence.
