That opening shot of the fire being launched into Meereen. That shot of the arrows going from army to army. That long shot of Jon when the fight first began.
Fuck.

I'm just gonna spend a minute to point out how UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLY POWERFUL that long sequence shot following Jon in the midst of the battlefield was. The whole progression from that long shot onwards, with the increasingly confused cuts on the gruesome cruelty of the battle, was just breath taking. I found myself gasping alongside Jon and yelling at the screen while he was smashing Ramsay's face. Their final confrontation was also amazing, with the bow-shield action (instead of a more predictable sword on sword fight) and the hyper-satisfying perfection of watching Jon breaking his goddamn face before stopping when he sees Sansa. And Sansa... Well, I think all has been said in the video posted above: that perfect little smile in the end was just priceless. That battle scene was of film quality. My thoughts exactly. That was some Braveheart level shit.

At least Hodor and Wun Wun did their jobs in a proper send off no bum's rush.

I can't figure out why Jon would board Ghost at doggie day camp for the day. He could have used him. Thankfully, he's picking him up for the finale.

I'm glad Grey Worm got to kill the masters, they did him a great deal of harm and he got his revenge.

I thought it was a brilliant episode. For somebody who was mostly spoiled and thought there was no way they'd kill off Jon, I still had a shutter of worry when he was getting trampled on the ground. It felt high stakes in every way and I can't believe I was excited to that little weasel bring the Eyrie.

Ghost would have died in that battle, it was pure carnage, no way he gets out alive while the Boltons are surrounding them with lances. And the episode had a lot of CGI already with Meeren, the dragons, and Wun Wun. I for one I'm glad he sat this one out.

I'm here.... I GOT TO SEE IT AN HOUR AFTER Y'ALL BUT I DONT EVEN CARE I AINT EVEN MAD!!! oh - and ... fuck you HBO NOW you piece of shit. 8pm on the nose their entire hamster-wheel server system went to shit and it took them almost an hour to get them back up. Damn HBO I hope you at least apologize you shits. But anyways... the only thing I really missed out on was the live reaction thread and honestly, maybe HBO did me a favor here shitting the bed with their servers. I watched the entire thing front to back without a single interruption to frantically type some one-liner I didn't need to type anyways. So now that I JUST watched it, I'm pretty calm. Man I bit my nails right down to the quick during Jon's battles. I cried right out loud when he took his sword belt off and drew his sword - that was an epic moment. The Meereen siege was really really unbelievable... they kept that battle on the down-low and played up Snowbowl completely on purpose to surprise us and MAN did they surprise me! DAENERYS CAN I PLEASE GO TO BED WITH YOU? (ok I can't but Yara can in my place) I have so much more to say but I need to calm down after being pissed for an hour before I could watch... I am worn out now haha.

I think there are a few reasons for that. 1) I think Wun Wun got more screen time. 2) Wun Wun definitely got more character development. 3) Rickon didn't have any lines upon his return. Did he? Maybe one? 4) Rickon's death was played for its impact on Jon, not us, while Jon's face played the significance of Wun Wun's death for us (last of his kind) to enhance the impact of his sacrifice. And this is yet another last of its kind creature of old sacrificing him/herself for a Stark.

Taking a dire wolf in front of archers would be getting it killed automatically. Dire wolves are good at hand to hand or sneaking, but not ranged combat, for obvious lack-of-thumbs reasons. I always wondered how they dealt with that issue with Grey Wind, but we never saw any of Robb's battles to know. Obviously Jon has some, uh, flaws in being a battle commander, but at least he kept his puppy for a better day. I do miss seeing him too, though. I hope they use him a lot against the White Walkers.
