I have to save 10's for the Hardhome's, Blackwater's, Rains of Castamere, etc. It was damn close though. The Arya scenes should have been in the premiere though, and I didn't love Jaime's scene with the HS. That was actually my favorite Jaime scene in some time. I like it when he gives no fucks.

Wow. Seriously, wow. This is the best episode 2 yet. I'll give this one a 9. King's Landing and Braavos scenes felt little jarring, but everything else was hands down amazing. Fuck you Harald for doing nothing when your liege lord was stabbed. Fuck you Ramsay. And fuck you too dogs. I've never felt this kind of feeling when watching TV. Not even when Shireen burned. But Roose's death, the intense dialogue exchange between the maester and Rams, and then the dog scene which came afterwards, they made me shiver so fucking much. Euron's introduction was pretty good, I liked the remark about Balon winning the war by doing nothing. I guess that was kind of an inside joke by D&D? Euron seems really confident, bit disillusioned from reality. But that's just good. Roose is was a cold psychopath, Ramsay and the Mountain are savage monsters, about time we have this kind of villain. Jon's resurrection was great, though pretty much the most obvious twist this show has ever done. I still feel bit weirded out because of Davos being so concerned about Jon's resurrection. Maybe Edd and Tormund told him to go tell Mel, as he's the only one that knows her. 1/5 never forget

I'm giving it a 10 just because I've been waiting since 2011 to find out my favorite characters fate and FINALLY! I knew he just couldn't be dead!

Well, it's an incredible episode and I have honestly nothing bad to say about it, that's why I can't divide the scenes into great, good and bad ones like I did last week. All of them were good, but some were even better than others. I can name my personal highlights, though. Those were everything at Castle Black, the Sansa/Brienne and Sansa/Theon conversations, the Boltons and suprisingly - Euron. Honourable mention goes to Branflakes. Let me start with the ending. God, that resurrection scene was incredible BECAUSE it was so underplayed. They were able to achieve a lot of tension by not making a big deal out of it. Carice was phenomenal. Including Ghost into the scene was a very wise idea. This scene is already one of the most iconic scenes of the entire show. Sansa's scene was lovely. Sophie really knocked it out of the park here. Her reaction to Brienne's story about Arya was beautiful and the way her eyes were filled with tears when Theon said his goodbyes really touched me. It makes a 100% sense that she has forgiven him. Ramsay is a fucking monster. But in contrast to some of you, I didn't think Roose's death was rushed. It worked really well. Ramsay has no conscience. He is what we call a psychopath. It may have seemed like he wanted to impress his father in past seasons, but it was really just about his own ego, never about Roose. The scene with Walda was horrific and very effective. Letting the tension rise in that scene was the right decision. It gave a lot more weight to the scene. Elizabeth Webster's performance was the cherry on top. I felt so bad for Walda and her baby. RIP. However, with Roose out of the picture, Ramsay suddenly seems even more dangerous and crazy. There is no-one controling him anymore. Lord. Iwan Rheon is doing one hell of the job. He is so sweet in real life and yet so fucking terrifying on this show. I'm always amazed at what they are able to do in only 5-6 minutes. Take the Greyjoys for example. It didn't feel rushed at all, but they managed to reintroduce Yara and Balon, introduce Euron and kill off Balon in under 6 minutes. That's some impressive shit right there. Pilou made a fantastic first impression. The lines "I'm the first storm and the last" and "I'm the drowned God." are already iconic. Nope, this will not be another Dorne. Thank the Drowned God. The other storylines were well-done as well. It was lovely to see Isaac again. I forgot how good his acting was. I loved his facial expressions during the flashback. He also knows how to deliver his lines. He is great. King's Landing was solid. Nothing much happened, but I liked everything about it. The acting was top-notch (shout-out to Dean who doesn't get nearly as much recognition as he deserves!). The scene between the HS and Jaime was probably the best part of KL. Another good episode for Jaime. I'm slowly starting to get over the nightmare that was Jaime's S5 storyline. Braavos and Meereen were probably the scenes I cared the least for, but this really shows how good this episode was, because there was absolutely nothing wrong with these scenes either. This gets a 9 from me (almost a 10, but I'm reserving that for another episode).

I gave it a 8, just because my 10 standard is Hardhome.
But really in hindsight, it's a spectacular episode. I'm guessing after the series is over it will be in my top 10.

This may sound like book purist, but Roose not saying his lines really decreased my rating a bit.

Y'all are a tough audience! I totally get why many of your are reserving your 10's but man I just had to give it this episode even though it's very early in the season AND I know there are some iconic scenes coming that will very well likely also be solid 10s (Snowbowl and TOJ) so I'm just going to confess that this is probably the first season I will be quite liberal with my 10s! It was the amazing acting from ALL the actors this episode that did it for me and earned the 10. I can't think of one single actor, even the secondaries and new actors (Maester Walkan) that wasn't through the roof fantastic.

As much as I enjoyed this episode I can't give it a 10, it's doesn't quite meet my 10 standard of Hardhome and Dracarys the scene among a few other. Also, like you say I think the later episodes might pack a bigger punch.

I mean they are all freakin 10's if you really want to get down to it. There's not a better show and story going on right now. But if you say Hardhome or Reins or Blackwater are 10's, I have to knock this one down a tad.

I don't think they're all 10's ... The premiere only got an 8 from me and it was a pretty strong premiere. I guess my excitement for two huge scenes I really wanted to see (Tyrion with the Dragons and Jon's resurrection) on top of that horrific death scene for Roose/Walda ... AND Euron's epic intro ... AND Bran's vision with young Starks (which actually ended up being far more moving than I imagined it would) ... AND the moving moments between Sansa/Theon and Tommen/Cersei all added up to a solid 10 for me... there wasn't one scene in the episode I felt was flat, even the slower moments like Missandei/Varys/Tyrion in the throne room because that was just a lead in to the epic trip down to see the dragons. But that's all plot talk. Again, it was the solid acting and the way each scene melted flawlessly into the next which earned it a 10 from me. There was no abruptness or jarring perspective shifts at all - it had good flow. Even some complaining Roose's death came too quickly I disagree with ... it felt like it went right along nicely with the dialogue and tension buildup. Yep, I'm satisfied with awarding a 10 even though I'm quite sure I will award a couple more this season there's no crime in giving multiple 10's and if anything confirms this is going to be an amazing season!

Hype overload.
That was an amazing episode. Probably the best early episode they've ever done.
Davos acting like a GOT fan and asking Mel to bring Jon back out of nowhere took me out of it for a brief moment, but then Carice pulled me right back in and all was well in the realm.

The Good: - Wun Wun kicking ass! - The mystery of Hodor... I'm genuinely intrigued about that. - Sansa and Theon farewell was moving. - Euron introduction was fantastic (and his iconic lines were included!). - Tyrion's scene with the dragon was way better than I thought when I read the spoilers. - Jaime and High Sparrow's tense meeting. Foreshadowing... - Jon is back! The Not So Good: - Roose's hug was out of character, IMHO. And he never said his iconic lines - Arya's scene was a bit redundant. Fantastic episode, overall. Great beginning for Season 6, miles ahead of Season 5.
