Can be new characters, old characters, returning characters, the whole thing.1) Cersei - And so the final descent into madness begins. I live for this storyline and I think it could be the craziest this year (give or take the North), despite initial doubts that they would slow it down. Everything about it looks sharp and insane, including Lena's performance
2) Three-Eyed Raven - Max von Sydow is my spiritual guru so this needs no explanation.
3) Sansa - Finally the season most of us have been waiting for. I love that the "black sheep" of the Stark family will be the one to rally the North. Here's hoping for a coronation in episode 10
4) High Sparrow - Jonathan Pryce in this role Everything that he's promised in interviews - character backdrop, a deepening of the religious revolution, seems worth the hype.
5) Euron Greyjoy - Extremely curious about this dude. I have a feeling he will be a throwback to Pedro Pascal in terms of energy and charisma. Can't wait to see what he brings to the table.
6) Melisandre - Look forward to diving straight into her backstory, motivations, and above all, her broken faith. Sounds like a great acting season for Carice. Just don't kill her off, Ser Onion.
7) Thoros of Myr - This is my absolute favorite "secondary" character, so I cannot wait to see what they've done with him. You can't have the Riverlands without this dude, so well done D&D.
8) Davos - Another one that could have his best season to date. Adore this character in both books and show. So cool that he seems essential to the endgame.
9) Lady Stork - Essie Davis will brighten up the Arya storyline like there's no tomorrow. And hopefully play Catelyn in a play about the RW - she has the cheekbones for it.
10) Walder Frey - He needs to do a repeat of the "Wertha? Walda? Waldina?" familial confusion before the gods make short work of his brethren
HM: Osha. Love her but the hype has died down a bit after so many ominous news.

2) Ramsay - SNOWBOWL
3) Euron - No need to explain
4) Davos - Epic SNOWBOWL hypeman
5) Melisandre - Jon resurrection, Ajon Ahai confirmed
6) Sansa - LF is gonna die
7) Bran - Tower of Joy motherfucker
8) Night's King - The Wall is coming down bitches
9) Thoros - Bringing the BWB back with LSH
10) Roose - He's gonna say the "rue the day" line this time, right guys?

1. Euron Greyjoy- the show could use some fresh blood. A maniacal, immoral pirate should do the trick.
2. Sansa Stark- for the first time in my life, I actually care about Sansa Stark! After being put the ringer last year, I'm excited to see her start fresh and try to correct the wrongs done to her and her family.
3. Davos- Davos is just a precious angel and I am very happy with the emphasis he seems to be getting this year. Liam is just a treasure, and I'm glad he's getting his time to shine.
4. Melisandre- melifuckingsandre. This woman has brought ruin to thousands of lives. I'm interested in seeing the titular Red Woman try to pick up the pieces of her shattered mission. Carice is phenomenal and very underrated, so her getting attention is a very welcome sight.
5. The Blackfish- this guys a fucking legend. I rewatched some S3 Riverlands scenes to fan the flames of my LSHYPE, and I forgot how funny this guy is. I like how he's comical but still stern and formidable. Yes please.
6. Lyanna Stark- we haven't even technically gotten any confirmation that she's in, but the lovely Lady Lyanna is something I want to see. The Lana Del Rey of Westeros, im sure she'll make audiences as sad as she is in her big scene.
7. Ellaria Sand- omg I actually kind of liked Ellaria Sand. Indira Varma is a goddess, so the more meaty scenes she gets, the better.
8. Daenerys Targaryen- Finally she's out of that trash heap called Mereen and she'll get back to her badass roots. I'm expecting some goosebumps raising shit from the Khaleesi this year.
9. Varys- idk i just love Varys. I wanna be his friend. Conleth Hill is perfect and watching him wreak havoc in Westeros in the name of Dany will be some good shit.
10. Cersei- Shes gonna pull some shiit this year. After being left to rot in her a cell by her "allies" and then shorn and dragged through the streets like a whore, the Lioness will be mad as hell. The Mad Queen is my #1 storyline this year, and I have faith D&D and Lena will deliver.

The Roose is Loose would certainly make my list if only I didn't suspect an early death coming up

7. Ellaria Sand- omg I actually kind of liked Ellaria Sand. Indira Varma is a goddess, so the more meaty scenes she gets, the better. Even though I hated the way her character was written, it's Indira Varma so she can stay for as long as she wants.

1) Jon: No matter how it's done, the resurrection will be one of the most iconic scenes in the whole show. And after that, Snowbowl, motherfuckers!
2) Davos: I have a sweet spot for ol' good Davos, and this seems to be his busiest season yet. He has a key role as a councelor for both Sansa and Jon. Now that I thought, I wish he was my councellor too!
3) Euron: Some well needed Kraken badassery. A mysterious character, potentially a game changer. Portrayed by a good actor.
4) Arya: Just because she is one of my favourite characters.
5) Tyrion: Same as Arya.
6) The Hound: This show needs The Hound so much! And I'm curious about how he will behave after his time with Meribald (or whoever is playing Ian McShane).
7) Cersei: Her downfall to madness is sure to be entertaining to watch.
8) The Blackfish: Back in Season 3, I liked him a lot and his no-nonsense attitude. His tense meeting with Jaime sounds promising.
9) Sansa: The child is dead. The Queen In The North will arise. It will be cool to see Sansa using all the political wisdom she has learned with Cersei, Margeary and Littlefinger and put all that into practice in her quest to get back her home.
10) Thoros of Myr: Because Paul Kaye is the perfect Thoros. His bitter humor and complex moral code make him an interesting character. And yeah, I really want to know who is being hanged in that scene in the forest...

Dany- back with the Dothraki, and hopefully finally sailing for Westeros
Jon- his resurrection, and likely becoming a darker and more ruthless character
Tyrion & Varys- ruling Meereen together
Sandor- don't care what he's doing, just glad he's coming back
Ian McShane's character- because Ian McShane
Euron- cause they have horribly underused the Ironborn on the show thus far
Cersei- Lena is always great, and this is going to be a big season for her
Bran- it's been too long since we've seen him
Night's King- cause he's awesome

My list starts out similar to @nictarion 's but different on the back half. 1. Daenerys - Finally getting her shit together and figuring out what she needs to do. 2. Jon - Finally getting HIS shit together too and kicking ass at Snowbowl! 3. Tyrion - Getting HIS shit together and remembering what he's good at - leadership. 4. Davos - Becoming Jon's trusted adviser and kicking ass all over the place with his wisdom. 5. Arya - Growing up and becoming 'someone' again and not 'no one' - returning to Westeros. 6. Thoros - Glad he's back and can't wait to see how the BWB plays into the whole picture this season. 7. Bran - Visions of past and present are going to be powerful and important clues. 8. Jaime - here's to hoping they fix everything they screwed up about Jaime in Season 5. 9. Sansa - This will be her year to shine and finally overcome the shit she's been through. 10, Bloodraven - because Max Von Sydow rocks and I think this will really help bring this story to the forefront.

1. Davos Seaworth
Now that The One True King is dead, he can shine on his own. I expect him to have loads of screentime this season. His fight against Thorne should also be good. 2. Jaime LannisterIt's time for Jaime to throw Cersei away. He seems to have some fatherly moments with Tommen, but above all I'm interested in his Riverlands storyline, which IMO (along with Cersei and the Greyjoys) was the best material of AFfC. 3. Jon SnowUnJon, Dark Jon, whatever you want to call him. I want to see him as brutal and as cold as the old Kings in the North. I want him to be a real King in the North, not a dumb boy playing in a war (sorry robb fans). Also SNOWBOWL. 4. Euron GreyjoyMy favourite Greyjoy, second only to Theon. Pilou Asbak is a good actor, his Crow's Eye Euron will be great. I hope the show plays his mystical/creepy side, and gives us implications of Bloodraven's visit. Damphair is also in, so I expect them to have some kind of confrontation. Euron warged Aeron when they were kids? That's certainly better than the molestation theory. 5. Bran StarkEMBRACE THE DARK SIDE 6. Night's KingHe's badass.

I don't know if it's necessarily characters I am looking forward or their storylines...some of which I hope are much improved.
1. Bran...I am so here for Bran learning his powers. 2. Bloodraven...see above 3. Ser Davos...who looks like he's here to slay 4. Cersei 5. Jaime...looking forward to him having the best storyline he's had since season 3. 6. The return of Blackfish/Edmure and what's going on in the Riverlands 7. Praying for LSH. 8. UnJon. Please let death change him, please. And not in the Gandalf the sparkly white way. 9. The Boltons...will they get their just desserts this season. 10. The Night's King. Time to get in the head of the white walkers. 11. Bonus: Sansa and Theon, who appear to be having better storylines this season too.
