I suppose we may as well start a new thread, admiring (or criticising) the costuming of GoT! It really is quite astonishing how much detail has gone into everything. Emilia's wigs are pretty damn impressive. Even the ones I don't like (like the pyre one - too overly braided) look amazing, and pretty damn real. Aside from the glorious colour (and, I guess, really elaborate styles), it's pretty hard to tell it's even a wig. I think Emilia says she still gets asked a lot of its her real hair lol. And the little sigil-details are my favourite. The lions on the shoulders, and the lions on the necklace are all pretty amazing. And the direwolves and lions fighting each other on Sansa's wedding dress with the lion reigning victorious at the base of her neck were awesome (albeit frustrating) details. And it's not just the women, Robb looked pretty dapper at the Red Wedding, and I love love love the direwolf clips on the cloak! And I know I mentioned this already, but Sansa's cloak is gorgeous and I want one. Although, as lovely as the costuming is, there is a serious lack of variety for some characters. E.g. Arya's outfit hasn't changed once since halfway through season 1? Apart from the (hideous) jacket thing she got at the beginning of season 2, which is still there. I don't think Jorah ever changed either. I get why Arya wouldn't (although I do think she had some opportunities), but Jorah didn't even get a change of wardrobe in Meereen.

Yes, the detail of the wardrobing is pretty astonishing. Even the horses get gorgeous 'jewelry.'

I thought Tywin's dead guy costume was pretty ornate.

I was looking through Missendei's gorgeous outfits, but then came across this. (Well, I guess a little gold chain really IS all the wardrobing you need for... certain occasions.

All of my namesake's costumes look pretty ornate. Guess who. ;o) And I'd love to wear all of them. From the armor to his outfits at court. Yes, Joffrey's costumes are also really great.

I think we can consider sheathed swords part of the costume, can't we? Roose Bolton's sword is awesome.

I love most of the costumes on this show. My favorite is probably Oberyn's with the little suns on it. That thing is badass!
Dany's white dress from S3 and the one she's wearing in my avatar are among my favorites too.
Also, the Lannister's armor is awesome. It reminds me of a samurai. Especially Tywin's.

Woosh, that's a sexy pose he has on that pic My favorite costume is Margaery's wedding dress during PW. Yep, it was out of the character for books Margaery but for the overly sassy and kinda stupid show Margaery it worked. I wish the dresses were a bit more diverse when it comes to color - Margaery's dresses are often different in design but they are the same exact color and it looks like she is wearing one thing.

The detailing on leather is amazing. It seems Michele Clapton* said it came from Italy , if so they almost have a comer on the market! I can't think of many films or TV with the intricacy even thing for the inlaid kraken on the Ironborn to Pod's studded 'boiled' leather which looks really heavy! Even the rather 'spartan' black of the Nights Watch is amazing , one wonders where the hell do the Crows get it made? Experts at Moletown?
*Clapton said Italy, and that her costumers there her that the leather work for the Sand Snakes had 'look' about it that was a natural consequence of the manufacturing processing and they didn't see why anyone made any big deal about it.

I have only been a little disappointed by designs in Essos , at least for the high born, and the upper middle classes. Now I thought GRRM's description of much of the Essos apparel was way too garish , glad the clown like beards and hair are gone. However , in Meereen, for instance there is a lack of elegance one would expect in a colorful society, I know it come down to budget , but heck they had that for season 4. The surfs of Westeros and the slaves of Essos look just fine!

I have to be curious about the costuming for The House of Black and White, didn't came for the proto-Kindly-Man's mottled cloak in that scene with Arya, but maybe that was camouflage. George's description is pretty plain in the book, but I have seen one design on the Net that I thought was good , very stark and elegant.
(By the by ,not a costume, but with all the trouble they went make a BIG prop for the House of Black and White, why aren't the doors bigger? Also I know GRRM describes a simple design for the doors, but have seen a cool one on the WEB which could have been CGI'ed in.)

The Costume's on this show are top notch. I'm glad fireandblood pointed out Robb's Red Wedding attire. That dire wolf cape is one of my favorite things I've ever seen on this show. Other favorites for me were Margaery's wedding dress. It was so intricate and beautiful: And Stannis' armor. I just love how his sigil kind of "pops" on it.

Stannis's army has also the coolest armor in my opinion.

I love the costumes, they really focus on the smallest of details and I think that really adds to the experience of the show. I love the dragonscale dress that Dany wore: Cersei's armor dress: The lovely dragonfly necklace Sansa wore: Jon's Night Watch outfit:

That blue dress of Dany's is gorgeous. Same with her sexy dress that Jorah most certainly noticed.
