I read The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick 50 years ago! It is one of the last science fiction novels I would have expected to see as visual media. The story is almost all inner voice, set in a alternate universe that may or may not be a real alternate universe! Amazon's version is action-o-fied , but is keeping the narrative. I liked the first episode. The Man in the High Castle I wonder where this goes since Phil Dick did not ever write the sequels he intended ?! Note : This may be a fall out of Game of Thrones. Network TV is struggling because anything that is off-center and more engaging than drama-as-usual does not compute with them, coupled by the hammerlock of an MPAA type of censorship they cant do much drama that hurts people's heads. We shall see, it's strange that Sy Fy is doing Childhood's End next month. Science Fiction source material that has lain fallow for more than 70 years is showing up, it is odd.

This is really Big Vista Science Fiction, but the story is one long detective story, so to speak. With imagination it might be made to work, but it's gonna take some strong rejiggering. Here's an odd thing. George Lucas had read Foundation in the hospital while recouping from an auto accident. He had wanted to make Flash Gordon, but could not get the option. So he leveraged off Foundation but jettisoned Asimov's thoughtful narrative for something more simple , and even junked the simple narrative, later, for explosions.

Have seen all 10 episodes now. This is one weirdly glorious show. Using Dick's novel as a backbone, with a lot of changes. Internal logic gaps that need fixing. Cast is given weird direction towards monochromatic acting, odd!, they are a better cast than that! Enough of Dick's philosophy about whats real to drive a casual viewer insane! It under cut my expectations and I like that. It is a crazy show I loved it! Recommended.

I moved this here, b/c afaik it has no GoT cast members, so it really belongs in this section.
(correct me if I'm wrong!)
