Here's the Podeswa interview that WOTW's latest article is based on btw. There are some s6 tidbits of interest in here.
EDIT: In particular he mentions that he is shooting in four different locations in Spain this year. So right out of the gate in 601 and 602 we'll be getting four different Spanish locations...pretty damn cool. EDIT 2: He also says he can't say anything about Jon Snow's death. So, yeah, we'll get something Snowy in the first two eps.

Very interesting. When the Spain shoot starts it'll be fun to see the directors in the pictures and guess the episodes. If I had to guess, Braavos and Dorne are both likely to feature in the first 2 episodes. And if they shoot bits of King's Landing and Meereen/Dothraki Sea in Spain, there you have the other two.

Unless Tower of Joy opens up the season.... Which could well be the case. We shall see. When shooting a movie the last scene , could be , not always, the first scene shot. They do seem to shoot in story temporal sequence for GoT. Of course having the book story we can kind of sort of figure out what story sequence is when. Black Water, RW, Battle at Castle Black and Daznak's Pit fell on E9 like clock work. (Not at all clear what E9 will have next season!) Have to wonder if D&D assign a certain director to certain material?* So ToJ could occur any time, but I don't see story elements shot later and then edited into , say , the first episode. *I think now that , S5, Sapochnik should have directed E8 and 9 and have given Nutter 7 and 10. Nutter can even do action but Sapochnik trumped Neil Marshall , to me, in that department with Hardhome. I though Nutter kind of fumbled the choreography with Daznak's Pit. Nutter's a fine director but not a Neil Marshall for an action sequence. I guess Marshall was not available for E9? He can do non action material too.

it would be cool if arya or jaquen comes to oldtown with sam if they stop off in braavos. where would they logically pick up sams story anyway? just arriving in oldtown would be best but it'd be great to make that connection with the faceless men unless thats not an important plot in the show.. Weird that arya is wearing a braavosi man's outift. looks like shes ditched the cat of the canals persona. i think she will join a mummers group as part of her training this season after she is blind beth for a couple of epsiodes. but not sure when...by episode seven she may be somewhere else...kind've convenient that oldtown and braavos will be filmed so close together. This would be a nice convenient way to tie together the two storylines - I like it! It would condense some things we know from the books and put everyone on a converging path in the same general vicinity. Even if they don't meet beforehand, having Arya go to Oldtown with Jaqen would align things nicely with Sam's story. Maybe this is why they are filming everything in the same general area and using Girona for both Braavos and Oldtown in season 6? if only they moved arya's storyline along a little faster. i don't think shes ready to leave braavos until late season 6 but it can work. like maybe she gets an assignment in oldtown instead of braavos with the mummers. And jaquen is technically no one so he could show up anywhere

I hope we get more Roose in this next season. McElhatton is just too good of an actor to use so sparingly, and Roose is more interesting than Ramsay, IMO. Someone said a page ago that the "a peaceful land" speech could follow Ramsay doing berserk after finding Sansa and Theon have escaped. I like that idea. Talking about Ep 9 has one against reminded me how much I hate being Unsullied. That was always a fun thing to predict. (And it reminds me how wrong I was about "Only Cat" possibly closing out the season with Stoneheart aftert he credits.

D&D need to abandon Episode 9/big battles/shocking events thingy. I think S5 was a change to this formula somewhat as it was more of a typical late season episode. Yeah it had Daznak and the burning of Shireen but the finale had Stannis' death, Myrcella's surprise death, For the Watch, Sansa and Theon's escape, Arya killing Trant and then going blind, the Walk of Shame etc. And of course, the biggest action setpiece of the season was Hardhome in E8. So I think the pattern has been broken. At the end of the day, bigtime stuff is going to happen near the end of the season so you'll always have some big developments in E9 but I also think they realize that they can put other big events in the episodes around it as well.

I was so sure she'd be at the end of Season 3, and then so sure they'd do a cold open of her in Season 4. At that point I came to the conclusion that she was cut and I mourned, and I thought I was over it. But then I found myself expecting her at the end of Season 4, and then I started to believe she'd be in the end of Season 5. I just don't look at the LSH threads now.

No offense, but I don't really think LSH in 3x10 or 4x01 was even realistic. I always thought she'd be in Season 4 finale, because that's the time it happened in the books. Didn't happen.

So speaking of snowy ... with all the excitement we've had about the Spain locations being set up and filming going on actively in NI... there's no snow. And I'm not talking about Jon Snow. I know they do fake snow for the Castle Black set, right? But they're already done with that from your other reports - or am I getting the shooting schedule confused? Is there no location shooting info for Iceland this year? I would think there was something they needed to shoot north of the wall in the land of the Others at least once in s6... but we could speculate they move south of the wall and we don't see the frozen lands anymore?

Interesting question. Shouldn't winter be here now? Maybe they're going to CGI snow on every scene. It was a minor nitpick of mine that there was tons of snow around Winterfell (enough that they could jump off a castle wall into a snowbank) yet the woods around Winterfell where Stannis and his Last Stand took place was not snowy or only had a sprinkling of snow? The entire region should be completely buried in snow. Yes I know Melisandre's little weather wish was momentarily granted for the battle (useless after all ) but there should still be tons of snow everywhere. This is going to make things tricky filming where they've always done it and I'm surprised they haven't released set locations in more snowy areas for the Northern stuff... and it's moving southward! How long before it reaches the middle of the map and the Riverlands?

I've heard this argument before but don't really understand it. Nym pulled Cat out of the river shortly after she was thrown in. Her body hadn't decayed much and was still intact. The Brotherhood came along soon after that. So, in the books, we didn't hear about or see LSH in action until later, but her body was found within days of the Red Wedding in Season 3. Chronologically, Season 3, Episode 10 is when she should have been found. I really wanted to see the scene with Arya wolf dreaming through Nym and finding her. Oh well, as you say, didn't happen.

I think for the last season at least they should cut down on Spain/Croatia shooting and double down on Iceland/Scandinavian countries. For the time being, we will have to make do with fake snow. But when the long night comes they better give us some real wintry landscapes....
