Black Panther in the last Captain America movie kinda bored me, so I was a little worried his own movie wouldn't really be for me. Glad to say that's not the case - I think it might be my favourite since Civil War!
To add more: I thought this had one of the best marvel villains by far, up there with Loki. Killmonger stole whatever scene he was in, plus he's got the best theme:

I finished watching Black Panther with my friend. Personally it's good, but heavily flaw.
I absolutely loved the costumes and the make-up/hairstyling. They did a fantastic job blending in modern clothing with traditional African clothes and some of the African make-ups look so awesome.
And I agree with many people saying Killmonger is one of the best villains in the MCU along with Loki.
The actions are great, especially that car chase scene.
But my biggest problems are the characters. Aside from Killmonger, most of them are very underwhelming, especially T'Challa.

Tomorrow is Jessica Jones day. I'm mentally preparing for an intense binge watch experience, as we will be visiting my parents over the weekend, so I have to finish it all tomorrow.

So Jessica Jones Season 2 is amazing. I'm fucking loving it. Only a few more episodes to go and I'm already feeling kind of sad because I don't want it to be over. They even brought David Tennant back, holy shit.

Spoilers up to episode 3 I can't help but feel like the whole young Jessica plot line is repeating what Agents of SHIELD did in its first season. I'm pretty sure some of the lines are even the same: "You died, we saved you" and "You should have let me die!" in particular.
To be honest I'm a little bored of Hogarth's subplot. I don't really like her in the first place, and honestly I don't see much reason (yet) to feel sympathetic. I mean yeah she's got ALS, but she's also a really horrible person, so I don't feel as bad as I think the show wants me to. Hopefully it'll get better.
Otherwise I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably have more to say when I'm finished.

Done, and I loved every second of it. Not gonna lie, after Defenders and especially Iron Fist not being quite as amazing as I would have hoped, I was a bit nervous for Jessica Jones, but I'm happy to report that I enjoyed this season just as much as the first one. It was a bit lacking in the villains department, like there was no hateable yet charming antagonist like Kilgrave, but on the other hand, Season 2 had me more emotionally invested than the first. No idea how well this season is going to be received by the general audience, but I genuinely loved it just as much as Season 1. Here some random thoughts: Was not expecting that Simpson would show up for just one episode, just to get killed off immediately. Isn't he like a major villain in the comics? I thought he'd play a much larger role in this, but oh well. I really loved the storyline with Jessica's mom. It started out a bit weird, like at first I wasn't sure how to feel about it, but then it had such strong emotional payoff. I loved the way her mother was portrayed, she was very Frankenstein-esque in her movements and demeanor. She wasn't pure evil like Kilgrave, but she wasn't a good person either, and you got a distinct feeling that she probably had a lot of darkness in her even before the accident. I had some very ambivalent feelings towards her. In one moment, I felt genuienly sorry for her and I wanted things between her and Jess to work out, all the while knowing that there's no way in hell this was ever going to end on a positive note. But other times, I thought it would be best if someone put that woman out of her misery. A fascinating and tragic character indeed, and when Trish shot her, as much I felt sorry for her, there was also a sense of relief. It had to be done, there was never any hope for her. Really powerful stuff. The relationship between Jessica and Patsy remains one of my favourite things about this show, and this season it ended on a pretty bitter note. I can't wait to see where things go from here, especially now that Trish is starting to develop some powers herself. Also, can I just say, I love Patsy. I don't know for sure, but I feel like she's probably a rather controversial character ... but I genuinely love her. I really enjoyed Hogarth's storyline too. The scene where she came home to find out that she'd been robbed and then breaks down crying, that was some legit powerful stuff, man. I wanted her to take revenge on those fuckers after what they did to her, and I was happy when she did. Also, Malcolm is awesome. When did he become so fricking hot, seriously. Ngl, I really appreciated the fact that they had him take off his shirt on several occasions. <3 A lot of eye candy in this season in general. The guy who plays Oscar is a solid 12 out of 10. This is such a good fucking show. I hope they don't make us wait another three years for the next season. Jessica Jones is my favourite of all the Marvel shows on Netflix. In my heart I've always known, but this season has confirmed it. Probably gonna binge it again soon with Daniel, and I honestly can't wait.

I finished it ~2 hours ago. Still not sure what to think honestly. There are choices they made which I think are ... different, but didn't really work for me.
The most immediate thing I want to mention is the villains, and I've been thinking about this a bit. When the Netflix shows started out, their villains were top tier. Fisk and Kilgrave were some of my favoutite characters in all the Marvel stuff. Compare that to the movies where the only person who was at the same level was Loki. But recently I've enjoyed the last few movie villains, like Zemo, Vulture, Killmonger - characters I've found really compelling and fresh and interesting who always had my attention on screen. But the Netflix villains have faltered since... well since Kilgrave honestly. I didn't like the Hand in DD S2, or Mike Pence in Punisher, or whoever the villain in Luke Cage was (since I don't think that show even really knew). And the more I think about Defenders, the more I forget about it. I mean I enjoyed it at the time but it's just really unmemorable.
And then here there's not really a villain, instead there's Karl and Alisa. And look I'm fine with no villain - I don't think this show even needs one - but to me it feels like they didn't really try to fill the whole that Kilgrave left with anything. Nobody really had my full attention. I feel like a lot of the interactions with Jessica and her mother were kinda repetitive.
Plus I don't really like how these shows feel the need to tear down relationships. Like can't these guys just have a happy ending for once? Nelson and Murdoch broke up in Daredevil S2, now I have to see Jess, Trish and Malcolm all hate each other at the end of this. That felt quite repetitive and very disheartening.
I think these shows in general need to consider fewer episodes. A lot of stuff felt very dragged out. Like Jeri's story (which I actually liked), and as I said the Jess/Alisa stuff.
I'm still not sure how to put the rest of my feelings into words. I enjoyed the season, but at the moment there's a lot of negatives in my head so I'll need to think on it.

While I personally loved this season just as much as season one, I do think that it had a lot more overt problems than the first one. It had some filler and the writing wasn't quite as consistent.
It still worked for me though, because I find Jessica and Patsy to be extremely compelling characters on their own and I absolutely love their relationship. But if David Tennant was a big reason for someone why they loved season one, season two will probably disappoint, and I can totally see why.
Jessica Jones to me doesn't feel like all these other comic book movies and TV shows, it actually doesn't feel like a comic book show at all (which is probably the reason why Jessica felt so out of place in Defenders, to be honest), it's more like a character driven neo noir crime thriller. So even though Kilgrave was a fantastic character, I don't absolutely need to have a new larger than life comic book villain every season. I'm perfectly content with watching these characters do their thing and experience conflict on a much smaller scale than what you would typically see in a superhero movie.

I'm only finding time to watch season 2 slowly but I absolutely love it so far because it's so focused on Patsy and Jessica (both together and separately). And they are probably my favourite MNU characters. Certainly JJ is my favourite series. I'm enjoying seeing more of Hogarth. I just watched the episode where we find out she has ALS

Wow, the Patsy hatred is so strong on reddit right now.
It's funny how so many people seem to think that characters having severe flaws or acting irrationally in extreme circumstances equals bad character or poor writing. Where in fact, often times being frustrated with a character is exactly how the writers wanted you to feel. It's the same shit people say about Catelyn. To me, characters having flaws and making some stupid irrational decisions is often times the most compelling aspect of character driven fiction.
Trish pulled some really stupid shit this season, but that's exactly why I love her character and why I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.
