I note that David Beniof at the Oxford Union panel said something like "everyone should hold their potato, when the show gets to the end all will be understood". Something like that. So , some real surprises this season since we have like several dramatic features not in Feast or Dance. I am of the speculation something equivalent to Hardhome happens in the next book or two. If these things are true we got some forward book spoilers. For instance knowing the Ironborn are coming back means something even tho the battle at Meereen is not in season 6, still arcs seem to be coming together. Just saying.

So what does this all mean for Winds of Winter?
Seems a lot of the events could indeed be spoilers, even having David Benioff outright give us one , did he clear that with George or what? Offing Ser Barristan surprises me still, being that he shows up in early chapters of Winds. Now even if the dies at the battle of Meereen , and they are not doing that, wonder why they did not save him for episode 9? Biggest square wave is Sansa's story, is that a sketch of something in Winds? Jon we knew about , Stannis , no hint, tho I am still not convinced of that one. So should the show be renamed Game of Thrones Rearranged?
One thing , I have always been bothered with George having only two novels to go and the possibility of introducing new major characters. That , at this point, would be a major narrative glitch, unless, George plans on 5 more books!

It's gonna be super different regardless of if the characters who died in the show die in the book
