Just watched it. I've been drinking some so maybe it's my fault and not the show's but I don't understand that ending in the slightest. They were in Florence with Will seemingly getting the Ray-Liotta-in-Ridley-Scott's-Hannibal treatment...and then suddenly they're back in the States on Verger's farm? How does that work? I see the ep. seems like it's already the best-reviewed of the season but tbh it's the first one that I didn't really get and didn't have too much patience for.
Also that Margo-Alana boning scene came completely out of nowhere. IIRC they were only in each other's company twice prior to that scene, right? They did flirt a bit in the stables when they first met one another and I suspected they'd get at it at some point in the season given some of the hints I've read in interviews... but surely something like that requires more buildup than that, doesn't it? Also NBC's fucking stupid. You can show blood squirting out of a skull as a circular saw cuts through it and yet you can't show nudity in a sex scene in which the two characters are, you guessed it, naked? Fuck you, NBC. Fuck you very much.

I just saw a great thread name on IMDB called, "When is the food network going to pick up Hannibal?" IMDB has the best facetious posters I've ever seen. I mean, a good many of them are trolls or at least very near being trolls, but GODDAMN are some of them sharp!

It's the entirety of American media. They're fucked up - gore? good. dick? OH NO! That's true. Hannibal takes this to a new level because of just how gory it is. I don't remember if it was the first or second season but I remember there was an episode with a bunch of naked corpses sewn together...and we were able to see a guy tearing himself from the other corpses and the skin ripping and everything...but the corpses had convenient shadows over their privates because that we couldn't handle as an audience.

I mean if they're stumbling across these horrors, I think they'd say "Holy shit," or "Jesus fucking Christ" just a few times, right? That's why I was kind of hoping the show would be picked up by Netflix or Amazon who'd let them balance out the gore with other more realistic elements...but I guess that's not going to happen now.

I think Fuller went GRRM route a bit....he is focused on something called American Gods now and wouldn't be available to do Hannibal this year and that's why Amazon backed out. I'm a bit disappointed since he never got as much recognition as he did now thanks to Hannibal fans and he kinda shat all over them, unless he has a killer announcement coming at Con

5min Red Dragon arc trailer That looks great. A way better villain than Verger for sure. And Neil Marshall's directing one of those episodes I've heard, so there's that too.

Works out better for me then. There's no shows I watch on Saturday's right now, so this will fill the void. I thought there was only 10 episodes this season.

Every episode of this show is pretty ridiculous but that last one was on another level. Tbh though it's at it best when its less ponderous and artsy and more balls out insane. I mean Verger has been one big sexual innuendo all season so the symbolism of his death was just brilliantly outrageous.
Look forward to them shaking it up.

Ah. Neil Marshall. He's always good. And Armitage seems to be doing well.
The three year time-jump is plenty jarring though. I'm beginning to think that Fuller was told that Hannibal wouldn't be renewed again back before s3 was written because previously he'd said he wanted the Red Dragon storyline to be its own season. I'm glad to get it of course because I think he's a much better villain than Verger but it really seems like they rushed right into it. Having Will become a married man offscreen during the three year jump seemed pretty sloppy to me (and I say that as someone who liked the huge time-skips in Fargo and s1 of True Detective because they seemed to be better set-up). Still, with all of the pieces in motion now, it seems like the third live action adaptation of Red Dragon will be pretty damn good.

It will probably be my favorite of the three ^ I only just watched Mannhunter and though it was extremely 80s I thought it was much better than Red Dragon. I'm a Michael Mann fanboy though Hugh Dancy is awesome, I loved seeing him work the Leeds crime scene, been a while since we heard "this is my design" Not 100% sold on Armitage but I'm sure he will be fine, the head shaking and freak outs were a tad excessive. I wonder if Freddy Lounds will meet the same fate as her novel counter part, idk if it will be her since they already faked the fiery wheel chair in season two Yeah Marshals direction was top notch.
