I've seen TLJ in theaters twice and I want to go again. Same. I actually liked it better the second time. The stuff I was bothered by on a first watch felt less invasive second time round It happened to me too, I enjoyed it way more the second time (except for the casino sequence. I hate that part of the film).

Oh yeah and I really liked Holdo and her death scene was awesome. I wish we got her in TFA.They should work in a cameo in Solo or something.

She's definitely become one of my favourite characters in the sequels. I was so gutted when she died because I was sure they'd keep her around for IX. I guess it makes more sense to develop Poe so he can lead the Resistance, but god damn it I want more Holdo!

I feel like CGI Carrie Fisher might be unavoidable.

I'm betting it's gonna be a time jump of a few years, in which Leia has died off-screen and Poe is the leader of the Resistance. I think he's had enough development in TLJ so that it doesn't seem too weird or convenient.

Body double and we only see her from thr back? I don't know how they can avoid CGI. Even dying off screen doesn't sound like a great option.

I guess, I just feel like the story kind of ended with Leia being super important, but now her story will be cut off, for lack of a better word. I feel like showing her in some capacity will kind of have to happen. Maybe it's her funeral like Padme's in Ep3, maybe she's a force ghost, maybe she's a hologram, etc, but I think TLJ set her up to be a necessary factor in ep9. Ideally, they could maybe CGI/body double a brief death scene for her or something, so we got a definitive end to her story, but that might be in very poor taste lol.

Opening the movie with a funeral is how I think it could go down. Trevorrow was supposedly fired because he (among other reasons) couldn't find a way to deal with this that pleased Kathleen Kennedy and co. I think they'll try to be as tasteful as they can be, and since recasting or CGI-ing are more likely to backfire or come across as disrespectful, I think off-screen is probably the best option. We've already talked about this twice within about a week. It's gonna be a long wait until IX... I hope we at least get some word before then about how they handle this. Because being notified in advance of the movie could ease some of the potential backlash, or at least bring it forward.

If they open with a funeral, I want it to be established that it was Hux who did it. I always expected that to happen and cause an even bigger rift between he and Kylo. I already think Hux is going to try to overthrow him. The only issue with that is it happening at the beginning of the film. I kind of expected Kylo to be the big bad for a while, for Leia to die, and that's when he turns to help Rey/the Resistance.

I feel like Hux was used too comedically for me to really consider him a credible threat. I do like Gleeson's performance and I enjoyed the comedy, but watching him get tossed around like a ragdoll more than once doesn't make me take him very seriously.

I agree with this, add in that the resistance's ranks have been thinned out quite a bit at the end of TLJ, enough for all of them to fit in the falcon that Poe would be the logical choice.

I think he has the chops to pull off a threat though, if he wanted to. His speech in TFA was pretty unsettling. I keep thinking back to that meme Basil shared and start laughing though.

With Hux I can imagine him trying to stage a coup and failing spectacularly which I think I would be fine with tbh

Star Wars books continue the trend of creating a really emotional build-up only to deliver a gut-punch moment that comes off as morbidly hilarious. So there's a short story about the guy who stands in that weird tower on Yavin (picture below) and it's about how he's sending his baby daughter away from Yavin because it may end up as a military target (this is probably set around the beginning of ANH). So he records this very sweet video to her that she can watch when she's older, saying that he hopes that the war will be over when she's old enough to join the rebellion - but if it isn't then it's in her blood to fight the good fight and all sorts of stuff like that. But at the end of the story, where is it revealed the baby is going? "They're going to take you to a place called Alderaan, which is far from any fighting. You'll be safe there."I mean come on! Can we just have a story that has a happy ending for once, Star Wars? Please?
