I'm so late on all this but Yaaass Davos! Yaaassss Queen Cersei! Okay, Emma Watson is terrible though. And I ALWAYS give her a chance because she was Hermione and even though I didn't think she was a very good Hermione at times, HP is just a huge part of my life. But I hate that she's given all these roles when someone like Rupert who was leagues better gets shit because he doesn't fit the Hollywood troupes. That seriously bothers me. Rupert is quite a good actor. I felt like he hit it out of the park in Deathly Hollows parts 1 &2. To be on topic...I do hope the Emmys reward Lena this year.

I think both Kit and Emilia are passable, but not great.
Kit is quite good at plaiyng the knows-nothing Jon Snow, and I guess he's great at fight scenes, but apart from that, he always looks dejected, even when he's supposed to be angry, he looks depressed, and when he's supposed to be happy, it doesn't feel genuine.
One of the things I disliked about Season 6 was just how little death has changed Jon. The writers really didn't bother to explore how this has affected his character, and Kit didn't play him any differently. I really loved s6, I think it was one of the best seasons the show has done, but that aspect of it was super disappointing to me, I think they could and should have done more with the fact that Jon was fucking dead. Instead they just used it as a cop-out for him to leave the Night's Watch, and then they forgot about it.
If you compare Kit and Emilia to the likes of Lena Headey, Michelle Fairley, Stephen Dillane, even some of the younger actors like Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Maisie Williams - both of them really don't stand out.

I think both Kit and Emilia are passable actors. They're no Lena Headey's or Sean Bean's, but they perform their roles to satisfaction. I personally think that at least Emilia can be kinda charming and charismatic on screen, whereas Kit is usually very flat to me. I think he was very good in Snowbowl, but he's usually pretty stiff.

Yep! They were cast for their...essence. Not just their looks, although I think that was a huge part of it. Kit was cast because he does that broody thing. He embodies broody Jon Snowness, naturally. And Emilia has that difficult to describe mixture of vulnerability and passion. And she rocks the Valyrian. I think they are both very well cast, but neither is a great actor, at least not yet. If that makes sense. They might get there with practice, but they'll never be natural actors like Maisie or Issac (who doesn't get enough kudos for his acting IMHO.)

Once again I find myself in the Kit is a bad actor minority You're not alone. Nope...I agree with you too. I think both Kit and Emilia are passable, but not great. If you compare Kit and Emilia to the likes of Lena Headey, Michelle Fairley, Stephen Dillane, even some of the younger actors like Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Maisie Williams - both of them really don't stand out. That disappointed me too. Death really did not change Jon, the writers decided not to go there and Kit did not play him much differently. I, too, enjoyed season 6 but I felt like this could have been some juicy potential and maybe an opportunity for Kit to show some range and the writers just did not bother. I felt like it was just a way for him to have a reason to leave the Night's Watch. I also agree that when you compare both Kit and Emilia to most of the other actors on this show (past and present), they really don't stand out at all. I think both Alfie Allen and Richard Madden are better. Definitely the younger set is better too, especially Maisie and Issac. Given the GRRM had said he used the concept of resurrection to show that death was a life changing event (and the show cut out the resurrection that illustrated that point)...they could have illustrated that point with Jon. I do understand why both Kit and Emilia have noms this year. Even though I thought Iwan Rheon completely outacted him in the Battle of the Bastards and as for Emilia, the show knew to give her the moments that have worked in her favor for an Emmy nod previously. Glad to see the Onion Knight as the winner here. I think Tobias (who I probably voted for too) does so much with so little. He's so good and probably gets bonus points from me for making Outlander watchable when he's on it. I really wish HBO submitted Liam and Alfie for Emmys. Liam really was a standout this season.

One of the reasons why I'm so looking forward to TWOW is because I really think GRRM is willing to go dark with Jon after his ressurecction. Now obviously I don't mean Jon is going to become a villain or a monster, but I just think that GRRM will make him more morally ambigious than the show did in season 6.
Honestly I probably enjoy watching Emilia more on OGT, because I think she has much more charisma than KIT but over the past two seasons, I've liked show Jon more than show Dany lol. Dany hasn't really had an actual arc for the past few seasons to me. I feel like her story is mostly just her making speeches and cool stuff with the dragons peppered with an emotional scene with Jorah here and there.

Sophie fans were mad that Emilia got the nomination over her and I feel like Sophie is even more one-note than Emilia? Sophie is only good at playing beaten down vulnerable Sansa imo, it was painful to see her acting like a "boss as bitch" this season, she can't do fierce or badass well at all imo. Emilia is much much better than her in that regard. Sophie was best in her scenes with Alfie.

Emilia is much much better than her in that regard. Sophie was best in her scenes with Alfie. This. I think Sophie is amazing at the vulnerable scenes. One of my favorite moments in the entire show is when Margaery tells Sansa "We could be sisters, you and I. Would you like that?" and she looks at her, smiles, and looks like she's about to cry at the same time. I LOVED that moment. But "badass bitch Sansa" doesn't work and I think it's because the Sansa in Sophie's head is different from the Sansa on screen/page. Just about everything she said about Sansa in interviews didn't match up with what I saw and felt on screen. There was a huge disconnect, IMO. As for Kit and Emilia. I think they're both decent actors that do one thing really well that ups their performance. Kit is good at fighting, Emilia is good at giving long monologues. I do give Kit the slight edge as I feel he's gotten better, where Emilia has kind of stayed the same. But they both excel so much at those things it's easy to forget that sometimes they're kind of wooden.

I don't think either Kit or Emilia are great, but with Emilia there have at least been times where I've spthought she was very good, so I think she has potential. Kit, however, has one expression for everything. I know it's been done in a meme before, but his happy, sad, angry, confused, in love etc are all exactly the same bland expression. I feel absolutely nothing when he is on screen. And that made the Northern plot a struggle for me, along with Sansa and, if I'm honest, some of the writing. I have absolutely no idea why the Northerners would choose him as KitN. Charisma? Nope. Skill? Nope. His ability to command? Nope, he almost got them all killed. Emilia is also wooden quite a lot of the time, but has a few moments where I genuinely think she can act well, mostly things where she has to show a lot of emotion, like chaining the dragons. Or where she is being fierce like the sack of Astapor. So I place her slightly above Kit, though neither are brilliant

I don't think Kit is great either, but he does an amazing job with his fighting scenes and that's why I give him some credit.
