I really don't get the hate on Pilou's acting. I thought he was very good, it was the writing what made the scene bad. Euron outright admitting to killing Balon, talking about his big dick? Well, the coronation was fucking awesome. I don't get the hating on the scene at all. This is the most interesting the Ironborn have been yet, I think. I didn't like the Ironborn in the books, though, so I guess I'm not the best judge.

Euron is just portrayed differently here, and that's fine I guess. I didn't see any flaws with the Ironborn scenes themselves - I actually loved them a lot, especially Theon's speech and the rebirth of Euron.

This is how an epic Ironborn speech is done:

Yara's speech in Mhysa was also awesome Both Gemma and Alfie rock the speeches. If they are not the best among the cast with speeches, they are both among the best. I really love Gemma as Yara. Considering how much I did not care about Asha in the books and as much as I like Yara in the show, that is kudos her and what the show has done to the Greyjoy plot line.

I guess here are my thoughts on the episode, for posterity.
it was a great episode, lots of emotions.
Dany was fantastic, her scene with Jorah was heartbreaking and the acting for both the actors was top notch. I can't help but think that we will see Jorah again, or so I hope but we never know with this show. I think Dany is at her best when she is showing emotions, when they have her play the aloof queen, it doesn't work.
Sansa was excellent once again, he reproach of Littlefingers action were right on point. I'm glad she didn't back away from discussing the violence that was done to her. Now, that I think of it, I think Litterfinger continues to play Sansa, as he is leaving he reminds her the Jon is her HALF-brother panting some seeds of doubt into her psyche.
The Iron Islands were okay, I liked Yara and Theon but didn't really care for Euron. The sequence where Euron is being drowned and Yara and Theon are running away was good.
Arya scene was fine, it was sad to see that Arya once again relieved her father's execution from a similar vantage point from when she say it when it actually happened.
Finally Bran. So much good information about how things came about which will be so important in the future. We also get to see how strong Bran's abilities truly are and it's kind of scary. And of course "Hold the Door" Hodor's death was absolutely devastating. I was really shaken by his sacrifice, it was completely heartbreaking. But I liked that they showed that in the end, he made the choice. So sad.

Disappointment is probably a more accurate reaction from most with a few harsher comments maybe. I actually loved the scene overall as a whole including the speeches, but as @nictarion said, Euron came across much more "bland" than Euron in the books so the expectations were higher for his character. To me he came across as an arrogant boasting idiot. Maybe that's exactly what they want him to look like to the audience. Perhaps we were expecting a more Ramsay style villain out of Euron and instead we're getting an Ironborn Dothraki Khal type sexist pig? I'm really ok with that though, it's despicable in a laughable sort of way. But if they want Euron to seem a genuine threat to Daenerys, they need to have him say and act in ways more impressive than the Dothraki Khals especially right after they all got barbecued to death.

I never thought Euron was a real threat to Dany in the books either. His fake horn and fleet never stood up to her dragons and clairvoyance in my mind...now she's bonified fireproof too. The only threat to her is north of the wall currently. Anyway, IIRC, Euron was also a much more boastful, much more sexist pig in the books, but a charismatic one, and I found him to be that here speaking to the audience he was addressing. (He should have an eye patch, though. Why not, powers that be?!?!) We have yet to see his followers and if they're whacked out or if he has any magic or esoteric knowledge. I'm still hoping for him to have more layers than we've seen. Obviously people can have differing opinions, I just don't get the preponderance of criticism for this scene. I thought it was strong.

Admin - Oh you captured that really spectacular special effect when the three eyed raven tore apart into thin air ... I loved that! Nice gif set!

To add to my earlier post, another thing I just thought about now is there seems to be an association being made between Litllefinger's scene in the Vale, manipulating Royce via Sweet Robin, and Sansa's scene with LF in this episode.
In both cases there is the threat of being immediately killed as punishment, but then the threat is revoked conditionally. Sansa definitely wants the Vale knights to fight the Boltons, but she does not want to be under LF's control. So she tells LF she could ask Brienne to kill him right there but lets him go, knowing that LF wants her for himself and will know he needs to redeem himself for putting her in Ramsay's hands in order to have a chance at that now.

An 8, and I'm not trying to be difficult, for the record. I gave last week's episode a 9, and I liked that episode better, so it makes sense to rate it lower than that one, although it's a strong 8 (not that my rating matters anyway). Great stuff to watch this episode, with some really dramatic scenes. And we learned a lot about the Others and the Children, although I'm not sure if that's exactly how it will go down in the books down the road. Hodor scenes were dramatic and pretty amazing, and it was fun to see the kingsmoot. The look between brother and sister was exceptional when Theon stood for her claim to the throne. I was a little frustrated with Summer's death, honestly. But it certainly beats being shot with crossbow bolts while being trapped in a cage. The one scene though that probably did it for me, and might even bump my rating up to a 9...was Jorah and Daenerys' scene. I don't know why, but I love that guy and his dedication to that woman, even when sometimes she doesn't deserve it (I love her, but man she can be a pain in the ass). GREAT acting by both Emilia and Iain. If that scene didn't tug at your heartstrings I don't know what would, and dragon glass might be the weakness to your frozen heart. EDIT: And for the record, I did think episode 4 was more polished than this one. Done better overall in quality. I even felt like the camera work and scenes were well placed in comparison. This episode started slow and seemed kind of...meh. Maybe it was Baelish that ruined it for me? But there's no way I could possibly say the final scene didn't excite me. I was on the edge of my seat, even if it wasn't exactly perfect.

Excellent, but still not perfect. 9 +++++ House Manderly and the Blackfish mentioned in the same episode? *faints* ++ I loved everything beyond the Wall this episode. So intense and so heartbreaking. + They succeeded in tying the past to present in a really beautiful way. Loved the flashbacks. + Night's King was great. We finally get to see the origin of the WW! + The Wall was great. We got to know a lot more about the political situation in the North. That's important.. and that scene with Jon and Sansa. + Sansa Lemonheart being a total badass toward teleporting LF. Is he trying to sow dissent between the "siblings"? She really needs that army.. + The scene between Jorah and Dany was so great. Damn this cast is great! + Meereen was brief and strong this episode. +/- Braavos. The play was fun and all, but I'm starting to get tired of Arya training and getting beat up all the time. +/- Male nudity, are you gals happy now? -- Kingsmoot was an utter disappointment. Not the acting, but the script fails. I was afraid that they had given Euron all his epic lines for his 6x02 scene and they had nothing left.. and my fears proved to be correct. The speeches were uninspirational and kinda weak. Euron's plans sounds like shit and a forced cock joke? No no no no. Yara and Theon just stealing most of the fleet just like that? Cmon D&D, don't fuck this story line up as well... Kinslaying is not a bad thing on the show? Show: "Yeah nah, build me a fleet and I'll marry this dragon queen and give her my huge cock." I honestly can't wait to see how D&D will squeeze a dick joke to Wyman's "North remembers" speech..

An 8.something, which I will round to 9 because I liked it more than the other episodes this season. I'll just say what I didn't like because that will take less time; Aiden Gillen Kingsmoot as a whole was underwhelming and not very believable. "I wasn't born to be King, I paid the Iron Price." Super! But, nothing you have actually said suggests that. Special shout out to Alfie and Gemma though, who were both wonderful (they have been amazing this season). Peter Dinklage (if you look at my ratings you will see a recurring theme in the "dislikes ) Summer's death, he was under utilised and the death was poorly done. Few niggly bits here and there at he Wall which left it feeling a bit unpolished to me. That said, it was a good episode and I enjoyed it

That was a massive troll from D&D. "You want to see penises in this show? Well have a look".
