Lying Liar Who Lied Apologizes "My biggest fear was that people weren't going to care..." Um, you do realize that you're a fucking POV character. Have you seen his abs? He may not know this show is based on books..

And kudos to Alexander Siddig for... well, you know. Absolutely, but at least he was in 510. We didn't see Balon for 21 episodes straight, that's something. by the way I love how shockingly underwhelming the War of the Five Kings' conclusion turned out to be: not a huge-ass battle for the crown, but a systematic murdering of all the pretenders. The only one who got to die in battle was Stannis. And that says something about his claims to the throne, i think: wasn't he misguided by his faith in the Red God, he truly would have been the rightful king (or so I like to think)

In terms of Episode 2's, I think 602 > 402 > 102 > 502 > 302 > 202

It's interesting that Balon was the *ahem* final survivor of the war while hiding away at Pike. If he ruled Westeros I could see the Night's King standing on the edge of Pyke as Balon floats away on an inflated intertube, twirling round and round into the sea saying 'what's dead may never die...'

If not for her he would've died in season 2. House Baratheon would probably survive under Renly, though. He was weaker, but the might of his army would've made his reign stable long enough to produce an heir, or maybe just name Shireen his heir in case he failed.

In terms of Episode 2's, I think 602 > 402 > 102 > 502 > 302 > 202 Agreed. 402 was great because of the Purple Wedding and the Bolton scenes, but Team Dragonstone and Team Bran, the only other storylines in the episode, were kinda bad, with Stannis burning people for being "infidels" and Bran just being a huge bore.

Oh man, I'm still processing the episode, ngl. "I am Lord Bolton." "I prefer being an only child." What a fucking monster. But it's so good.

If that's the case, why did he do all those sit ups?? Beats me. If I was cast as Jon Snow. (Ernesto walks onto the cold-ass northern Irish set wearing a sweater, sun glasses and drinking a hot coffee with some Baileys. DB Weiss runs up. ) DB: Ernesto, you're supposed to be playing the hero of this story, we asked you to work out all summer so you could be nice and lean for the show. Me: Shut up DB, that's a stupid name. I've read the first 4 and a half books. Jon Snow lasts longer than anybody and is clearly the hero of the story. Good luck recasting me after you speak to my lawyer. Before we do this scene where I fight some punk ass Wildling, I'm going to visit the craft services table where I ordered a customized mac and cheese burrito. Tell Benioff to suck my dick (DB Weiss scurries off, vowing to take his misguided angst off on the Martell characters)

So....
While it did stretch plausibility a fair bit that Balon Greyjoy survived this long, I actually really liked in the end that these two major Kinslaying incidents were grouped together. It worked really well that Ramsay and Euron cleared their paths in the same episode.

As much as I hated to see Roose go, it was a very deliberate parallel with the Red Wedding scene. Both were an intimate embrace/slash surprise dagger to the chest moment.

Do we have to retire the "Dave Hill is just an intern"-jokes now? Dave Hill did good this time no matter if he was helped or not.
