Anyone else addicted to movie/TV/book spoilers? Do you hate surprises? I do. (most of the time) I just spoiled nearly all of Age of Ultron for myself

^ Ha, good post. Shouldn't it read: 'Hi, My name is queencarol and I have a spoiler addiction?' Just curious, did you watch the leaked GoT episodes, and now know everything that's going to happen in the show for the whole month? And if you did, and tomorrow the next 3 episodes leaked, would you watch them? This is a fascinating topic, glad you started it. And I wonder how much of a phenom it is in today's age of 'everybody can know everything about everything. Instantly.' I'll bet its huge. Can't wait to see who checks in here.

Me too. I have no willpower over spoilers.

Same with me. I had spoiled the Red Wedding, Ned Stark's execution, the Purple Wedding, Tywin's death, Oberyn vs The Mountain, etc while halfway through book 1. I had also read the entire summary of ADWD before I had a chance to buy it.

I have other... obsessions/addictions, just not this particular one. So, I ask, those of you who do this, do you feel, I don't know, good after you do it? Glad you did it? Or is it the rush of the moment, and then regret it afterward?

One of my friends lately turned from Unsullied to book-reader.
Of course, I still know more about the story than her. I have the knowledge of TWoIaF, she hasn't.
Sometimes, I really have to think whether to spoil something or not.

I don't download torrents, so I didn't watch them. I would've if I could though, but I did read all the spoilers people were posting everywhere.

You know I figured out my addiction to spoilers is a way to prepare myself for any unpleasant surprises. I think that's one thing GRRM taught. I started reading the books before the show aired but actually stayed away from spoilers. After reading the RW, I was like never again. I want to be prepared! I totally spoiled myself for HP 7 because if Ron died, I wasn't going to buy the book! Even though I still have to watch the first Avengers movie, I've read spoilers for them all.

I like to know ahead of time if I'm absolutely going to hate something. It stops the rage.

I'm a recovering spoiler addict. It is a day to day ferocious battle not to indulge.

I've been know to chase "spoilers" for myself, but not too much (TWOW leaked chapters an exception). In fact, if the TV series gets ahead of the books, I'll have a real dilemma, however . . .
The spoiler urge I have is to tell unsullied what happens in the books. I am respectful of their wishes, though, and won't spoil something for someone who says they don't want to know, but I used to work with an unsullied who was as 'gung ho' about the story as I was, and when she wanted to know what happened later, it was pure delight for me to tell her.

The thing is though, now that the show is starting to catch up to the books, everything and nothing is a spoiler now - you know? I mean, anything could happen on the show and it might not be at all what happens in the book, or vice versa so what IS a spoiler now? I kinda love it.
A good example of thinking I knew what was coming was the Red Wedding. While yes, I knew what was going to happen - them throwing the stabbing of his pregnant wife in there just threw me right off my chair in shock. I really didn't think they'd do something that graphic and horrific on top of the already horrible deaths of Robb and Catelyn. Wow. After that, I realized I could not get shocked (or spoiled) by the show. It was something of a relief to let go of spoiler fear.
Nowadays, I spoil some things and not others. I was really good this entire year staying away from casting spoilers and managed to be totally surprised by the Jaqen reveal and leaped off my chair cheering. I still manage to have some GOOD surprises by the show!
I'm so anxious about the books being passed up by the show (it's inevitable at this point since he said no book release this year) ... I don't know what to think. That has to make spoiler addiction like an addict with no supplier!

I prefer to avoid them. I can enjoy a movie or a tv show even if I've been spoiled, but I enjoy it a lot more when I don't know what is going to happen.

I'm so bummed now, though, after 5.09. I was reading through pages and pages of speculation posts, then people started talking about Stannis and Shireen, but I didn't know it was a given till I'd read through pretty much. Then I found a summary-outline sort of thing that I couldn't resist reading. THEN, I was really mad at myself, and I really didn't enjoy the episode nearly as much as I think I would have if I hadn't known. Book happenings, I knew, but not Shireen. So I probably need to stay away from speculations threads, at least once we get closer to the episode, 'cause I think that's when the leaks come out all over the net.
Reading the first book, though, when Bran was pushed out of the tower, I tore ahead to his next POV to see what happened, but I don't think that counts as a spoiler. It's just getting ahead of the other POV's.

There will be a seperate thread for 5.10 underthehearttree.freeforums.net/thread/396/spoilers-leaked-information-5x10for any leaks, so if you stay in the normal Promo/Speculation thread, nothing should happen to you.
