Started a rewatch today. Never done a full one before hopefully I finish before season 6 starts. Great! Enjoy the ride and share some thoughts here from time to time.

I had to skip ahead a bit because I told Sue I would write one of those Memory Lane posts and I have nothing written at all. I still have a few days before I need to send her something but I probably should not agreed to this lol.

I watched the first four today. Always bitter sweet seeing the Starks all together. Stopped after the epic Catelyn scene. I wish the show got Tim Van Patten to come back and direct a couple episodes in the later seasons, would have loved to see his work with the bigger budgets, but he laid a solid foundation.

I figured it would be an easy one to write about, it's easily my favorite season premiere they've done. She wants me to have something done a week before they post it so I still have time but writing is not my strong suit. I really don't know why I said I would do it

I'd be glad to read it and give you some suggestion, if it's needed.

I'm a much bigger Tyrion fan than Catelyn, but I count that as one of the very best scenes the show has done. And one of my personal favorites.

We're watching Unbowed Unbent Unbroken next. My husband has no idea what he's going to witness.

Oh, and I very much enjoyed my husband's response to Obara's story and spear to the head... "Well, that was unnecessary. Just say yes."

As I was rewatching S5 I noticed Rosabell Laurenti Seller's accent sounds strange and kinda forced, it differs so much from the other Dornish characters imo. Can any native speakers confirm that?

To give a more coherent answer though, I think KCH's accent was actually the weakest. But the biggest problem with all of the Dornish accents, including Siddig's, was that they were basing it on a very specific impression. Pedro Pascal's s4 Dornish accent was an impression of his father, which isn't just any old Spanish accent, it's a Chilean accent. Which naturally he would be able to do. But them doing an impression of Pedro's dad is too far removed from what they would have any experience doing. So the accents there all hit and miss really. Just like how Kit and Richard's accents being Sheffield Sean Bean impressions both started out pretty weakly imho. But accents like anything can be grown into and improved upon. Which Kit and Richard's did. Hopefully Siddig and the others will too. She's an angel. The best part(s) of Dorne. Also a scene like that is pretty hard to act. And she pulled it off with amazing charisma. The only girl on the show that can seduce as well as her is Carice who's twice her age. So I was VERY impressed. Because that is not an easy thing to do. Many actresses could not make a scene like that work. In fact most don't.

Watched the rest of season one throughout the day/evening. I couldn't stop. Still one of my favorite seasons of any show. -Rewatching it I feel like The Wolf and the Lion is a near perfect episode. The Hound vs The Mountain, LF and Varys in the throne room, Cersei and Roberts conversation, The Small Council scene with Ned standing up to Robert and the ending with Jaime and Ned fighting in the street are all awesome scenes. Yet you could still argue that it is the weakest of the back half of season one (though I prefer it over A Golden Crown and You Win or You Die). -The Tysha scene in Baelor is fast forward worthy on rewatches -Love all the Robb and Cat in the last few eps of the season despite a lot of their scenes being heartbreaking. Why'd they never bring the Greatjon back -Viserys, Robert, Ned, and Drogo all biting it in consecutive episodes is pretty crazy. They all left big impacts on the show, every actor killed it.

Rewatched 108 today. My mum always gets so pissed off about Drogo dying from that little wound and Dany letting MMD tend to the wound. Which is funny because I hate Drogo and understand MMD's motives completely (which my mum says is because I'm "a vengeful person"). But she gets really put off by that every time we rewatch s1. She also hates the Greatjon losing his fingers. She's basically cool with all of the violence in the show except for the violence in ep. 108 for whatever reason.

1.08 and 1.09 are two of my favorites. Just re-watched Blackwater, it never gets old. One thing I always wonder about is who the Hound was drinking with in that scene with Bronn. It's nice that Sandor had a friend, though. Or at least a casual drinking acquaintance.

It's nice that Sandor had a friend, though. Or at least a casual drinking acquaintance. The Hound coming to the fore in that episode is one of the best things the show's done yet. They kept him almost background up until that point, or a side character at most, but gave enough info about his past and his life and gave him as many scenes as necessary for it to be extremely effective and even poignant when he steps into the limelight and his conflicts with Joffrey and Tyrion and love for Sansa come to a head. Whatever the differences between bookSandor and showSandor might be, that's when the character really started working for me. That's one of the many things that made me realize during Blackwater that this show was a keeper and not just a fluke. Because a lot of s2 gave me doubts about how it would follow up s1. And until s4 I thought they did so inconsistently. But having such strong moments and episodes like 209 kept me faithful in what it could do. I love this show.
