So I have no idea where to put this, but I was just rewatching part of Kissed By Fire, one of my favorite GoT episodes. I love that scene between Arya and Gendry where he tells her "You wouldn't be my family, you'd be m'lady." It's so sad but so true due to classism . I love this episode.

S3 is generally an incredible season. Almost perfect hadn't it been for the lack of more Cat, the mediocre 7th episode and the Mhysa scene. But this is nitpicking, because when this season is good, it's EXTREMELY FUCKING GOOD. 3x05 is a very good episode, I agree. But personally I find 3x04, 3x06, 3x08 and 3x09 to be better. I love S3.

If you compare S3 to S2, it's a million times better in terms of writing. It also had a lot of great character development, especially with Jaime. S3 is his best season and Nikolaj nailed the scene when he's talking to Brienne about how he saved KL, also in Kissed by Fire.

My ranking was always S1 > S4/S3 > S5 > S2. Sometimes I like S3 better than S4 because of the writing, but then I like S4 better than S3 because it has most of the moments I was looking forward to.

Looking just at what happens in S4, it should be my favourite season, but it isn't. It's actually my second least favourite. A lot of the great moments fell short somehow. The best moments were the ones I wasn't expecting, e.g. the intensity of the dialogue between Oberyn and Tyrion in 4x07 or Arya speaking about nothingness in the same episode. The Purple Wedding, Oberyn vs Gregor and Tyrion killing Shae and Tywin were the moments that left me a bit disappointed. I didn't hate them per se. In fact, I quite liked a lot of things about them. But they didn't leave me with that OMG 10/10 feeling like 3x04 and 3x09 did.

The way Oberyn vs. Gregor was filmed with the quick cutting shots was a bit distracting and the dialogue in the scene between Tyrion and Tywin should have been stronger. Instead of the scene with Jaime and Tyrion taking about beetles, that would have been a good time to bring Tysha up and then she could have been mentioned in the finale. What I found interesting is that S4 is the shortest season of the show, so I feel like they could have done more with taking their time with some scenes. I actually thought The Purple Wedding was really well done, but I guess maybe you mean Joffrey died too fast and we didn't see him clawing at his own throat.

Yup, pretty much all of that except for the last part maybe. My main problem with the PW was Lena's acting in the last scene (or rather how it was written). I would have preferred if she had gone batshit crazy, screaming and not letting go of Joffrey's body. Tywin could have been the one to accuse Tyrion instead. It would have made more sense to me if Cersei had had a moment of complete loss of control and if she had focused on the fact that her son is dead instead of who the killer was.

I think it makes sense when you consider Cersei's paranoia especially given the prophecy. She is obsessed with who is out to get her.

I needed a bit more emotions. I don't want to be all like during a scene like that. I don't know if I recall correctly, but isn't her reaction in the books more like I described? Basil? I'm not basing my argument on the books, though. I just wanted to be wow'ed by that scene and I wasn't.

I think it says a lot about show Cersei that she takes an attack on her children as a sleight against her.

Yes, absolutely and I wanted to see all of that. Just not as initial reaction.

I should leave. Now. Instead he waddled toward her.
His sister sat in a puddle of wine, cradling her son's body. Her gown was tom and stained, her face white as chalk. A thin black dog crept up beside her, sniffing at Joffrey's corpse. "The boy is gone, Cersei," Lord Tywin said. He put his gloved hand on his daughter's shoulder as one of his guardsmen shooed away the dog. "Unhand him now. Let him go." She did not hear. It took two Kingsguard to pry loose her fingers, so the body of King Joffrey Baratheon could slide limp and lifeless to the floor.
The High Septon knelt beside him. "Father Above, judge our good King Joffrey justly," he intoned, beginning the prayer for the dead. Margaery Tyrell began to sob, and Tyrion heard her mother Lady Alerie saying, "He choked, sweetling. He choked on the pie. It was naught to do with you. He choked. We all saw."
"He did not choke." Cersei's voice was sharp as Ser Ilyn's sword. "My son was poisoned." She looked to the white knights standing helplessly around her. "Kingsguard, do your duty."
"My lady?" said Ser Loras Tyrell, uncertain.
"Arrest my brother," she commanded him. "He did this, the dwarf. Him and his little wife. They killed my son. Your king. Take them! Take them both!"
