I was trying to hold off cause I really want to rewatch season four but fuck it I'll do it.

I don't think it felt like a mid-season episode, because Shireen and Daznak's were too big for midseason, but a) it would have been better to put Hardhome after all of that, because it was simply the bigger event. It's better to follow up one climax with an even bigger climax instead of the other way around. And b) 5x09 suffered a lot from having Shireen's death directly before Daznak's. Moreover, it had Dorne nonsense, which really drags down every episode. But we all talked about this a ton already, so yeah. |

Yeah, I thought of doing something like this: 5x07 - I'd put Shireen here (and merge the 5x07/5x09 Dorne scenes and put them in 5x09) 5x08 - Leave both Dany/Tyrion scenes as they are, but include a line of Dany saying she invites him to the fighting pits. End on Daznak's 5x09 - Hardhome would be here 5x10 - Practically the episode as it is. But this has two major problems: 1) Too many episodes between Shireen's death in 5x07 and Stannis's attack on Winterfell in 5x10 2) Jon would have to teleport from Hardhome to The Wall in one episode. So yeah, no matter how one tries to rearrange the scenes, it's not really satisfying.  |
