Brienne is already in Winterfell when Stannis attacks. Stannis talks to Sansa to get her to identify Bolton loyalists among the survivors. Sansa recognises Brienne but keeps her mouth shut so Stannis doesn't suspect anything. Stannis doesn't sleep in Winterfell, he sleeps in his camp with the rest of his army. Brienne kills Stannis in his tent and Melisandre does fucking nothing.

I actually don't know. I assume yes, whatever happens to them happens in the first half of the episode which I did not see.

I think this gives some credibility to the GNC theory. Stannis liberates Winterfell but gets killed by the Northern lords, who declare Rickon the new King in the North. Meanwhile, Melisandre burns Shireen to bring Jon back, serving as his advisor from this point on (if he doesn't kill her for murdering a child), and Davos helps the GNC, unaware of how they betrayed his king. Team Dragonstone is now scattered. |
