The best written episode of Season 5 was "Hardhome" and yet it wasn't nominated. Totally agree. Hardhome should have won for directing AND writing. Because it was completely original material not already written by GRRM anyways! Also it was actually a good episode...which MM is not...

I don't think a piece of writing is inherently worse or less valuable if it is an adaptation.

It stand no chance, it had no pussy lines Forget about Dorne, Stannis and Shireen's deaths, and Sansa's rape, in all honestly was Season 5 really that bad? I'm not saying it was the best season of the show, but there were still many scenes that were great and compelling.

I know that Admin is using that "pussy" line just as a representative for everything she disliked about the writing, but I didn't mind that line AT ALL. Because come on, it's just a short silly line and it was completely in-character with Bronn and Tyene.

Well maybe not technically but in a sense you feel like the writers don't get as much credit for the exact adaptations in a way. I appreciate well done original material for different reasons I'm sure mean nothing in the Emmy nomination definitions. The fact that they took an off-screen part of the book and wrote it out into such a detailed and well thought out story all within itself just really impressed me on top of the superb directing and special effects. That's not even touching the amazing acting of everyone.

Maybe the line was in-character, but it was freaking horrible, whoever wrote it should be very, very ashamed.

Michelle Fairley wrote the line. Bad Pussy, Bad Pussy Cat, Bad Catelyn Stark, Lady Stoneheart. We already went over this. Credit goes to: Basil

Yeah but here is the thing - you shouldn't go through partial lobotomy to erase those moments so that maybe kinda you sorta see why the writing isn't horrible And also there is Cersei whitewashing, the mess of Stannis' storyline in the last 2 eps, the entire WF storyline which was just...candle, rape, jump! and of course, the belle of the ball - Brienne staring at the candle. Look, by all means give them directing and Dinklage the award because there were some things there that were good but writing was just awful. If the writing is good it can sell everything - but you have rushed storylines, ill conceived ideas and horrible dialogue. I really cannot remember last time Emmys chose something this bad to award. It even tops Eddie Redmayne's win as the single worst award choice of the year that I witnessed

As I said, it's a really unimportant throw-away line. It's exactly how Tyene would say goodbye to someone like Bronn. When I first saw that scene, I just laughed. It didn't change anything about the rest of the episode, it didn't make it worse, because it was simply not important. I know that a few people are referring to the whole season/episode when they criticise that line. I know that it functions as a placeholder for other things. But by now, it just feels like beating a dead horse to be honest.

I mean there are cringe worthy moments in this season - Melisandre lap dancing for Jon for instance, but that was just....I don't CW shows would have a line like that
