Please great Stannis, come back with no army, no wife and no heir! We really need you back in the show! The show ended about ten minuites into season 5 episode 10. Everything from this point onward is all just one big epilogue.

The cruelest jump cut in history. Or was it mercy?

I have had time to think about Stannis's plot line during my lonely guard duties. Stannis's story line was so rushed and ruined in the matter of minutes. I just can't get over this.

I'm actually impressed with how efficiently D&D ruined Stannis. George would have taken two books to buttfuck a character that badly, but D&D managed to completely bastardize him in just two episodes.

And yet they dedicated more time to him in those last two episodes than he had in all of s4 IIRC. I'll still say that that's Dillane's best work in the show by far and that the Battle of Winterfell section of ep. 510 is probably my favourite ten minutes of the show ever. But then I'm very big on Shakespearean a-man-destroying-himself tragedy.

My unsullied friends were cursing his story line this season because it was hyped for so long and then it ended like that. And yet they dedicated more time to him in those last two episodes than he had in all of s4 IIRC. I was so looking forward to seeing him act with Alfie and Sophie, but all my hopes and dreams have been crushed.

I'd still say that Stannis burning his daughter in an instant, without giving it any second thought, was very out-of-character for him and frankly, bad writing. Acting-wise I'd say these last two episodes were Dillane's best work on the show, but it was a disappointing and anticlimatic way to end Stannis' storyline, imo.

Stannis breaking so fast was the most unbelievable thing. The man has been in so many wars, a few days in the cold surely can't break him that fast..
