Decent episode. My friends and I were cringing and then couldn't help but laugh when the witch sisters started hissing. My goodness the cheese was strong with that one. Kali is so cunning and foreboding and then you have these clowns.

Billie Piper was amazing in 208 and it was very satisfying to finally see Dorian's painting.

Great show.

But yeah, it was a fantastic scene (and all around great episode too) and Billie was phenomenal. I only hope she sticks around for season three and isn't dropped in the next two episodes. Also, RIP Angelique. I loved the portrait of Dorian

This show's made me think that Hartnett could play George W Bush pretty well...

LOVED the episode. That fight in the beginning was so well done. Love how Vanessa immediately grabbed Ethan's hand as soon as she got down from the stairs

I'd say s2 of Penny Dreadful already beats s1 by quite a large margin. The dialogue, particularly a lot of Frankenstein's, really annoyed me in s1 but it seems they've balanced some of John Logan's more overwrought sensibilities which were a bit too strong back in s1, with quite a bit more plot movement. Some of the CGI is still wonky at times but overall they're finding their feet as a very strong TV show, I think.

I saw some criticism that it's worse now because the villains are shown so much? That's ridiculous that main vampire last season had 0 personality, those witches are so much better

(And of course I'm still very big on Hannibal and GoT but I know we differ on those now).

I never saw The Knick and couldn't get into Affair, but that's not meaning I didn't like it, hell I adore Archer and I'm still 2 seasons behind Veep I think is another I'd rate as high as PennyD, but my opinion on that one is clouded because nothing will ever come close to The Thick of It level of brilliance. That said PennyD is really quite unapologetic which is admirable, that scene with the newborn in the beginning of the season was balllsy as hell and the show's sequences of people saying incantations are some of the wildest, frenziest and liveliest scenes I've seen

I've seen a ton of people saying they thought the Affair was overpraised etc. and didn't deserve "Best Drama", which I guess could be true, but I thought it did a better job with the whole unreliable narrator thing than True Detective even. I liked it at least.
I really love how Penny Dreadful commits to that sortof creepy, weird genre shit btw. I kindof thought in s1 that John Logan was dancing around it with some of the more flowery 15th-century-sounding-dialogue-despite-it-being-a 19th-century-set-show moments but now it seems he's committed fully to it being more batshit and less artsy, which I'm very happy about personally.
