A song of Ice and Fire sure has good quotes. Some are inspirational, some emotional and heart warming, some absolutely hilarious ones. What are your personal favorites?
I will start with one of my favorites. This speech gave me goosebumps and made me smile. Best moment in ADWD, you guessed it:
"Foes and false friends are all around me, Lord Davos. They infest my city like roaches, and at night I feel them crawling over me. The fat man’s fingers coiled into a fist, and all his chins trembled. My son Wendel came to the Twins a guest. He ate Lord Walder’s bread and salt, and hung his sword upon the wall to feast with friends and they murdered him. Murdered, I say, and may the Freys choke upon their fables. I drink with Jared, jape with Symond, promise Rhaegar the hand of my own beloved granddaughter … but never think that means I have forgotten. The north remembers, Lord Davos. The north remembers, and the mummer’s farce is almost done. My son is home.” - Wyman Manderly, ADWD
I have more quotes like these to share, but it's your turn now.

One of my favorites from Tyrion:
"I am malformed, scarred, and small, but... abed, when the candles are blown out, I am made no worse than other men. In the dark, I am the Knight of Flowers. I am generous. Loyal to those who are loyal to me. I've proven I'm no craven. And I am cleverer than most, surely wits count for something. I can even be kind. Kindness is not a habit with us Lannisters, I fear, but I know I have some somewhere. I could be... I could be good to you."
(Tyrion, ASoS, wedding night)
It gives me the chills every time I read it.
And one from Tywin:
"There is a tool for every task, and a task for every tool."
(Tywin, ASoS)

I love this quote from Wylla Manderly so much: I know about the promise … Maester Theomore, tell them! A thousand years before the Conquest, a promise was made, and oaths were sworn in the Wolf's Den before the old gods and the new. When we were sore beset and friendless, hounded from our homes and in peril of our lives, the wolves took us in and nourished us and protected us against our enemies. The city is built upon the land they gave us. In return we swore that we should always be their men. Stark men!
"I dreamed of you" from Jaime to Brienne
And of course, the speech that made me a Stannis fan: Renly offered me a peach. At our parley. Mocked me, defied me, threatened me, and offered me a peach. I thought he was drawing a blade and went for mine own. Was that his purpose, to make me show fear? Or was it one of his pointless jests? When he spoke of how sweet the peach was, did his words have some hidden meaning?” “Only Renly could vex me with a piece of fruit. He brought his doom on himself with his treason, but I did love him, Davos. I know that now. I swear, I will go to my grave thinking of my brother’s peach.”

Good choices. I nearly posted the Septon Meribald's speech but it was gigantic. Here's his monologue. Truly a beautiful piece. I didn't really pay that much attention to it when I read it the first time. The feels hit me hard when I read it again.

Roose: "People fear you." Ramsay: "Good." Roose: "It is not good. No tales were ever told of me. Do you think I would be sitting here if it were otherwise? Your amusements are your own, I will not chide you on that count, but you must be more discreet. A peaceful land, a quiet people. That has always been my rule. Make it yours."
This is my favourite quote from the whole series and I'm sure many of you knew I would pick it. I have also memorized it.
Theon: "Lord Ramsay. The son, not the father. You must not let him take him. Roose... Roose is safe within the walls of Winterfell with his fat new wife. Ramsay is coming." Stannis: "Ramsay Snow, you mean. The Bastard." Theon: "Never call him that! Ramsay Bolton, not Ramsay Snow, never Snow, never, you have to remember his name, or he will hurt you." Stannis: "He is welcome to try. Whatever name he goes by."
Stannis: "Tell me, turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?" Theon: "You do not know him." Stannis: "No more than he knows me."
Stannis: "Lord Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne."
Tywin: "Wherever whores go."
Urine Euron: "Perhaps we can fly. All of us. How will we ever know unless we leap from some tall tower? No man ever truly knows what he can do unless he dares to leap."
Tywin: "There is a tool for every task, and a task for every tool."
Everything Reek thinks to himself in ADwD.
This is from the show, but I will still include it: Theon to Balon: "You gave me away! Your boy! Your last boy! You gave me away like I was some dog you didn't want anymore! And now you curse me because I've come home!"

@rooseisazorhai I absolutely love that exchange between Stannis and Theon. "He's welcome to try. Whatever name he goes by" LOVE that.
I too, lovely nearly everything that comes out of Roose's mouth. At first I was like "I can't believe he just said that." Now it's just the norm.

We are well rid of her, then. I will not suffer such abominations here. This is not King's Landing." This is one of my favorites "I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle, the first time your father crowned himself. I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, and took Dragonstone from the Targaryens. I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall, though he had twenty times my numbers. Tell me, turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?"

Ah yes, a classic scene. The reading gives it such gravity.

Oh for fucks sake the music... Even though I despise the Greyjoys, they have some really good quotes. "Godless? Why, Aeron, I am the godliest man ever to raise sail! You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand. From Ib to Asshai, when men see my sails, they pray." - Euron Greyjoy

Fuck me. That's not nitpicking. Who is it? After a bit of research, I'd say it's Roy Avers. And another of my fave quotes: "A reader who reads lives a thousand lives before he dies," said Jojen Reed, "a man who doesn't read lives only one." (ADwD)

"My mind is my weapon. My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer, and I have my mind… and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much, Jon Snow.”

"My mind is my weapon. My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer, and I have my mind… and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much, Jon Snow.” How could I not like that? =o) Some more quotes... "You are your mother's trueborn son of Lannister." "Am I?" the dwarf replied, sardonic. "Do tell my lord father. My mother died birthing me, and he's never been sure." "I don't even know who my mother was," Jon said. "Some woman, no doubt. Most of them are." He favored Jon with a rueful grin. "Remember this, boy. All dwarfs may be bastards, yet not all bastards need be dwarfs." And with that he turned and sauntered back into the feast, whistling a tune. When he opened the door, the light from within threw his shadow clear across the yard, and for just a moment Tyrion Lannister stood tall as a king." (Tyrion, AGoT, Jon) "It all goes back and back, to our mothers and fathers, and theirs before them. We are puppets dancing on the strings of those who came before us, and one day our children will take up our strings and dance in our stead." (Tyrion, ASoS) "Never forget who you are, for surely the world won’t. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you." (Tyrion, AGot) I like Tyrion for his realism. Especially that last quote - that is so true. And I also liked his ADwD chapters because he wasn't larger than life then. He was vulnerable - human.

“She never forgets a slight, real or imagined. She takes caution for cowardice and dissent for defiance. And she is greedy. Greedy for power, for honour, for love.” - Tyrion
"Give me Cersei Lannister, Lord Karstark , and you would see how gentle a woman can be" - Catelyn
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” - Tyrion
"The North Remembers"
"She don't speak...but she remembers" - Thoros
"And she rose, may the lord of light protect us, she rose" - Thoros
And favorite:
"Tell me, Turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton won that I should fear him?"
Chills!

"We all know what my brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt" Stannis Baratheon. The only King. The best King.

Catelyn "I want to weep, she thought. I want to be comforted. I'm so tired of being strong. I want to be foolish and frightened for once. Just for a small while, that's all... a day... an hour..."
When I read it, I remember it really got me as a very strong feeling.
