I had a dream last night that I got this book for Christmas. Maybe I had a Bran like vision of the future and we're getting a winter release date? for a December release I think it would need to be done already. Or at least very close to completion, so finished relative to the time it takes him I think for a winter (Jan-March) release he still has some time.

If they edit Winds like they did Dance, they could publish the book the day after GRRM finishes the final draft

"73 occurrences of 'words are wind'? Brilliant! Get it in the stores!"

I'm in the early 2016 camp for TWOW. Which is pretty fucking optimistic, I know. Martin has been busier than ever since ADWD was published with all the HBO stuff and has admitted his writing has slowed down in recent years.
It's entirely likely that his August meeting with his publishers is to discuss Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (a repackaged money grab of existing Dunk and Egg ((available for years to furriners))). Maybe he is also preparing them for an extended delay of TWOW. Who knows.
If that happens I'll laugh my ass off, realizing I've been GURMed again.

I suppose it could've been Christmas 20 years from now. lol

The "words are wind" or such don't bother me. People use expressions in real life too.
And didn't his editors take out BoI?

Lots of optimistic folk here. I don't expect to see it until late 2016 or 2017.

If I time travel 50 years into the future, I'd probably find George implanted as an AI in a supercomputer, processing the seventh book...

I've been reluctant to post in this thread, and I just figured out why. It's because I'm really not sure he's ever going to publish that book. Okay, he probably will, a rushed version, and then an announcement that the series now has an eighth book. I don't hate the guy, but somewhere along the way he crushed my hope.

The "words are wind" or such don't bother me. People use expressions in real life too. And didn't his editors take out BoI? Even his editor wanted him to ease up on 'words are wind.' This is the same editor that allowed all of those Brienne chapters. I'll admit that 'words are wind' didn't bother me as much as the endless descriptions of food. Those made me yearn for Tolkien's descriptions of landscapes. AFFC/ADWD are the literary equivalents of the Kill Bill films. Some wonderful moments in both, but filled with self-indulgent padding due to the decision to split them into two. A bit too much ego involved due to the success of the creative mind behind it all. They should have been left as one work and been forced to cut the fat. You'd lose some moments that the writer absolutely loved, but the audience's time is precious, and it's your duty as a storyteller to keep the story moving.

The fact that he said "probably" means he's delusional. Ain't no way ADoS releases before the end.

Sorry dear friend. I think it's easier on the soul to assume we're never getting it. When Martin isn't writing voluminous notes on his Hugo hate, he's too busy traveling. At least we'll get the HBO version complete. April 2016 can't get here quick enough.

Yeah, TWoW will happen at some point in the next 2-3 years. Sadly, I don't believe ADoS will ever be released (not because of Mr Martin's age/health, but because he won't be motivated to continue writing ASoIaF after the show's finished).

Yeah, that is pretty much my guesstimate. The only reason he isn´t more *upfront* about his lack of motivation are the obligations he has with Harper Collins, IMHO.
